As you may have heard, the small Italian island of Lampedusa is being swamped with African immigrants ever since the Arab revolt. I've heard immigrants pay around €1000 for this dangerous trip to European soil. Rickety boats with immigrants keep pouring in every day and currently there's more Africans than Italians in Lampedusa.
My question is: what happens to all these dudes? Everyone is provided with shelter and food by the Lampedusa population, and all immigrants are then transported to several refugee camps across Italy. After that, everyone receives a temporary permit to stay in Italy. Some of the immigrants then cross the Italian border and head to France, more particularly Paris. These guys disappear as illegal immigrants.
2nd question and my real issue: can everybody in Africa just jump on a boat, sail to the nearest European country and stay in Europe? Everyone seems to be accepted no matter what their intentions are. Then why would you want to stay in Africa? Is someone checking why each person took the boat to Lampedusa?
I know there's some Italian guys in here, I would like to read some extra information  (Again, my point is not immigrant bashing.)

Berlusconi did visit Lampedusa, now that you mention it. He's currently on trial for having sex with a Moroccan underage whore. I mean wtf: he's 70 years old! What kind of grampa would throw sex parties?

Wouldnt be surprised if in 50 years war will be waging over here like they currently do in Africa right now.
We've got enough easely offendable muslims and africans to make it happen and since we 'tolarate' change they'll stomp all over us, it's pathetic really, and weak.

Okay, okay... opinions on non-Western immigration in general could be discussed in a separate thread. (Though I'm afraid it will give the moderators a headache.) What I'm interested in here is what happens with all the boats full of immigrants heading to Lampedusa.

I don't see why people dislike immigrants.
If they are refugee's fleeing war, they aren't going to be perm residents.
And as for reg immigration, as long as the person has some kinda job skill and isn't a criminal, its fine by me if they come to Canada.
Its the people who come here (or whatever country) and leech off the system that I and millions and millions of others pay into. Why should i have to work hard to make money, pay my taxes all so some dickhead can get a free ride until they deport him.
I dunno bout ur guy's countries, but here, Jamaicans like to do that. Come here and abuse the welfare system and unemployment benefits and free healthcare as much as they can until they deported.
Its not only Jamaicans, but they are the biggest group i know of that does it so openly. Hell, they will tell you they do that.
On the other hand tho, I know a lot of Jamaicans (both born here and immigrants) who are hard workers, pay their taxes and call themselves Canadian. I like people like that.
If I moved to Romania and never planned to leave, I would consider myself Romanian with Canadian heritage u know?
Have to adopt the country u live in.

So what's happening is a border patrol. Most of the Lampedusa immigrants are apparently considered "illegal" (economic refugees, adventurers, criminals or whatever people call them). Then what I don't understand is: why is every immigrant accepted on Lampedusa, if Italy clearly doesn't want them? Seems to me Italy is trying to be creative with the rules. EU regulation probably forces Italy to accept everyone, so as a workaround Italy tries to prevent the immigrants from crossing the border.
What I'm afraid of is that most of the people entering the EU via Lampedusa will disappear as illegal immigrants.
PS I have heard of those Lega Nord dudes: they think people from southern Italy are all lazy bastards lol

Thats what they are saying on the news here and on the BBC. That alot of the ppl fleeing the mideast to go to Europe simply are going to disappear into the EU as illegals.
Thats not good for some many reasons...for both EU residents and immigrants. |

Many italians still love him even though he's currently facing three different trials (Ruby's sex scandal included) and trying at the same time to create laws "ad personam" to protect himself. Eventually they will end up in England, where they will recieve free housing, food, money, mobile phones and of course cars. They will then have the oppertunity to bring the rest of the their family over at a later date, of course paid for by the tax payer. Anyone who says anything about it will be labled racist by Lefties and people who dont have to put up with these people in their community, because lets be honest most of them will be uneducated saavages with the civilisation skills of the neandethals.
If it is a coummunity that hadnt had much exposure to immigrants, they will vote in the BNP and move out, the the current government will come out and say that they are controlling immigration, even though we know that they arent.

Good point, about the deportation at least. I have heard the idea is to collect all the immigrants and send them back to Tunisia and the rest of Africa. But I'm not sure this is a strict policy. I have heard reports of immigrants slipping past the borders and heading into Europe. I think that would be really bad for Europe.
But that is not the point. What is: what's the official policy concerning all these North Africans that keep coming?

I consider myself leftist (heck I vote animals' party PvdD) but that doesn't mean I want poorly motivated immigrants in Western-Europe! I think it would mean poverty, crime and decay. I even agree with the German immigration critic Sarrazin's point: too many non-Westerners will lower the average level of income and intelligence. (To avoid any banning: I'm not generalizing ("every non-Westerner is poor or less intelligent.") I'm talking about averages and cannot comment on individual cases. )

I would like to share my view on PvdD in another topic, it's a different matter altogether.
So you think unemployed Africans go to Lampedusa because authorities violate immigration regulation and always show tolerance in the end? This makes things even less clear for me: apparently there are rules but people refuse to stick to them...? Why would people want to make the rules so vague? Clearly that's not in anybody's interest.

The goverment just voted a law that said that illegal immigrants have the right to medical care, school and so on. Even tho they are criminals staying here illegal..
But its nice to know that our goverment can put money into criminals when our old people rots and get locked in(yes they lock in old people in homes beacuse there isn't enough workers taking care of them) in elderly homes.

So now I know a bit more about what's going on. Italy is fed up with the truckloads of refugees and considers the majority as economical refugees. Which is considered as illegal immigration. Italy now wants to get rid of them by handing out visas, so they can go anywhere in the Schengen area (the rich parts of Europe.) Other EU countries have refused to accept illegal immigrants so this is why Italy is threatening with the visas. Apparently no country wants these guys because most are supposed to be illegal immigrants.
To me the easiest solution by far seems bringing them back to Tunisia directly! Why is no one doing this? Why is no one blocking the boats or preventing the illegal immigrants from leaving Lampedusa? Collect them all and put them on a boat back to Tunisia. Seems easy enough to me.
Apparently there is some kind of regulation which is preventing a direct approach like this one. But what kind of regulation? Seems to me the EU can't even control who or who doesn't get into Europe.

Because theres a minority of do gooders, who stamp their feet and scream racism when these kind of propostions are brought up, these people have orgnisations like the UAF in Britain, they are the death nail for western Europe and these menace and threats to our cultures and ways of life need to be stamped out before we turn out attention to the immigrants themselves.

You're alll exaggerating the facts heres. illegal immigrants in europe do get caught, put in immigrant camps and then get sent back home, they can't deport everyone at the same time of course but very few get to stay for a long time, for most it's only a matter of time. besides they live off the grid so I don't see how that should bother people with legal jobs. it's just xenophobia.
most illegal african immigrants live in abandoned houses and only get money by doing shitty work you wouldn't dare do anyway. maybe if you were in their shoes you'd understand.

Most black people I know have jobs (yes, granted some are on welfare), and it's the ones that you'd rather not do, such as cleaning or facotry work.
You still have never said what you do for a living, I take it you're either unemployed yourself or so far detached from actual reality ( you probably live in a shithole like Vellinge) that you only know what you read in the papers, because you're so far gone in your own little world that you're not paying attention to what's actually happening.
