Jim Carrey should be voicing The Riddler Very Happy

I loved his Riddler, but it's a pretty different Riddler (his wasn't as twisted), so I'm not sure if it would fit. Now if he'd replace Caruso in a certain show, then that show would be tons more interesting Razz

Quote:
"Interiors are locked to specific missions, but 80% of the game takes place on the streets," Rocksteady's marketing game manager Dax Ginn told PSM3.

"This means you can begin the game and just start exploring," he added, assuring the mag that a focus on freedom doesn't mean sacrificing the narrative. "Plot is really important to us," he said.

"Our objective was not to make a bigger game world just for the sake of it. We want to fill it with content, and there's no better world than Batman's universe to take inspiration from.

"We have 97 people on the team, compared to 65 on the first game. Because we've decided to make such a large world we had to bring in more artists, animators and so on. It's been a pretty huge technical and creative undertaking for the team."

Nice, let's hope that the stealth aspect will be preserved, it was one of my favourite "features" in AA. I wouldn't like if the sequel decided to have more focus on action (street fights), but I'm quite sure that Rocksteady won't disappoint Razz

I just hope it'd be just like the first game. I'd be happy if they create a structured balance between stealth and action.

"What we play on is the PC build more often in the studio and it just looks amazing ... We try to develop them [360 and PS3] in parity, but the PC build has a life of its own."

Sounds good :>

It sounds like there'll be more PC-exclusive physX effects and flying papers all over the place that will radically twist the gameplay bringing it to a next level Laughing

I dont see any problem if there is PhysX effects, sweet extra effects if you have card that supports them. No one can argue that they werent nice in Batman AA.

Imho there are 2 very good examples of physx implementation. One is excellent and the other is absolutely marketing crap.

I think Batman AA has probably the most effective and noticeable utilization of physx. Just look around on youtube and see the major differences. They are NOT groundbreaking but they surely contribute to the environments being more nicely crafted.

The other example, the bad one, is Mafia II. Absolutely useless cloth apex crap, tons of unrealistic debris and particles (see shooting benchmark scenes).

So this means, in the end, that it CAN be done both ways: craptastically-useless but also, on the other hand, very nice. Smile

"It takes over 25 hours to complete the main stories in Batman: Arkham City. To keep players engaged for this length of time, not only do the characters and the story need to progress, but the core mechanics of the game they are playing need to change and adapt as well", game director Sefton Hill told The Guardian.

According to Hill, the game also features around 15 hours worth of side-quests, which can be tackled by the players when they please.

"The side missions in Batman: Arkham City are a good example. We have around 15 hours of story that's off the main path," he said.

"It's completely down to the player when and how they want to tackle this - there's no right or wrong time. There's no other medium that can offer this kind of flexible experience where the viewer gets to tailor the experience they want themselves."

Hill went on to liken the narrative structure of Arkham City and games in general to TV shows, as opposed to movies.

"In terms of narrative structure, I think games are much more analogous to an episodic TV series than a film. You have, say, 15 hourly episodes to fill, each requiring its own narrative arc but each plugging into an overarching storyline", he explained.

"It requires a lot of planning to make sure that every single hour is consistent with each other, is feeding and driving towards a compelling crescendo, while remaining implicitly self-explanatory so players can pick up and play at any time and know what they are doing."

Let's just hope they keep their promises. We actually see a lot of things like that these days, but in the end there are only lies upon lies.
