He's got a point though, the whole game is designed, built and aimed at consoles. The PC port is unfortunately making this too obvious. Super-linear game play, hand-holding everywhere, fewer choices and crappy mod system for weapons etc. etc. etc.. And of course, stupid achievements and collectors items that unlocks pictures and whatnot.

For a DX9 title, this game looks really fucking good! Looks better than most DX10 titles.

This guy is a moron. The game looks great and runs great. What the hell is he complaining about? Id rather have a fun game than a benchmarking tool. Hes probably pissed because he upgraded his rig just for this one title

I partially agree (I would 100% agree if I compared the game with the original but I am not because despite how much ambitious the original Crysis was it didn't exactly work. Crysis 2 is more HL2 + CoD than Crysis and if I compare it to these it's not half as bad as some people make it to be) but my point is he didn't criticize at all any of the gameplay design decisions. His only problem is that Crytek didn't cater to the "PC enthusiast MARKET" (no DX10, DX11 etc) and then he goes on to say he will buy Blizzard's games as if those aim to please the enthusiast PC gamer?!   LOL

According to consolitis, the super-linear, hand-holded gameplay with the even more awful menu and UI system is much better than the original Crysis. |

Well said, Crytek should lock half of the dx9 effects for a pseudo-DX11 mode so that he can be happy he plays in DX11, because this is exactly what Crysis 1 did and he praises it.

For people owning a geforce video card, I Just wanted to let them know that I managed to make the game look much better than the default "extreme" preset, doing as follows:
1. Set quality to "very high" in the game ui.
2. Use an autoexec.cfg with all sorts of sys_spec_xxxx set to 4 (except for "sys_spec" itself), same for q_xxx variables all set to 3 and disabling postmsaa completely (set to 0).
3. Finally and most important, use the AA bits referenced by consolitis yesterday, atm using 2x msaa + 2x sparse-grid traa:

Now the game looks amazing, no more crappy blurred screen (sharper image, textures and colors), very close to what the original Crysis looked all maxed out (no mods though). After some additional tweaking to autoexec.cfg I get around 35-45 fps at all times (the same I get with Crysis all maxed out).

it's not so simple, buddy. High performances cards include all DirectX10 and DirectX11, but they are all capable to draw very beautiful environments without crashing, as it is the case for Crysis 2 with DirectX 9 only, while with an old geforce 8800, your game will be shit only. So, great, Crysis 2 runs only with DirectX 9, performances are still affected by the quality of your graphic card. Anyway, DirectX 10 and 11 are truly for PC games while the CryEngine 3 or such graphic engine name targets consoles. And you can see it, Crysis 2 is the best...console port. In this mean, it can not replace DirectX 10 or 11.

game!=engine
CryEngine 3 does the same if not more than CryEngine 2 and it does them better/more efficient.

I think everybody will tell you graphics in this game are pretty or great, but ONE thing Crytek people have not told during their propaganda, was the fact Crysis 2 has been sooooooooo consolized. No DirectX 10 or 11 = because of consoles; no AA = because of their consolized graphic engine; no way to save manually your game, only stupid checkpoints system = because of cosoles system; no opened world = because of consoles way to play games.

Console port or not, this game is just epic IMO.
-SP campaign is simply just awesome as hell. Love the action and the pacing. Feels like Im playing Unreal II from back in the day.
-MP is addictive and fun. Mainly because this is the one game that Im actually good at MP
-The graphics are beyond beautiful. DX9 or not, this game looks better than 90% of games out right now. Even DX11 titles like Metro2033 dont look this good. Hell even future titles look like piles of turd (or urine in the case of DX: HR) compared to this game. I literally sometimes stop and just stare at the atmosphere even in MP. On top of that, it runs flawlessly locked at 120fps
-The sound is....well its just sound. I dont know how to rate sound. I guess its alright
-Gameplay is smooth and not annoying or buggy. Even if its dumbed down, its fun as hell. And the controls and aiming feel much better than a lot of other FPSs (metro2033 comes to mind)
As for the lack of graphics options...were PC gamers. Were not that fucking retarded. Just tweak your shit with a few command lines its not that difficult.
Im half way finished with the campaign and damn this game is so freakin good. If they fix the CD key thing, Im definitely gonna buy this (even if its the shitty box version). This is hands down my fav game so far this year. Call me a derp or whatever but this game kicks so much ass
