Quality is a bit all over for some of these titles but I imagine it's smaller developers and thus budget related, it likely works better on their market than it does on the international one but eastern-Europe titles are a bit mixed in quality as you say.

The games are "new" in that they are published only now in the rest of the EU, I think most of these titles came out in around mid-2010 but I'm not certain, still fairly new though. Smile

Haven't played most of them, toyed around with a clone of "They're Alive" some time ago but never got it to work and Steam Slug I tested somewhat with the placeholder English text files I discovered but many base textures had Russian localization such as the HUD and other menus.

Nice to see them released but I don't know how they hold up or what sort of quality to expect, Steam Slug was a fun brainless shoot em up but got a bit repetitive, performance was problematic as well unfortunately.

Laughing hey at lest they tried to create a game based on John Carpenters movie "They Live" but after you get those glasses and visit they mothership, this game turns into the same old Russian crap fest of budget FPS ... now the only Russian games that are worth a while are "The Hunt" "Collapse" and "Collapse 2 The rage"

Nope, it was outright bad from the start. Laughing I played for an hour or so, and just couldn't put up with the buckets of swill being poured into my face every second I wasted on that squalor of a game. Laughing

Btw, just tried Steamslug as well. My verdict is ...

Seriously, what's up with those drunkard Russkies?! Are they blind and don't see what they're developing?! I guess, they just don't give that much of a fuck, in the end. Laughing

I found a Russian release of Steam slug and there's a crack on GCW, in the "\SteamSlug\data\shared\preLoading" there was a XML file containing localized data so I simply swapped the Russian and English localizations.

For this to work 100% correct also make a copy of the "\data\shared\language" RU folder and name the copy Eng, do the same with the "\data\shared\sounds\language" folder. Smile

What's left is a bunch of pre made Russian localized images (Main menu and UI mainly.) but we'll see what I can do about those.

EDIT: Hard to describe the game, plays like Quake 3 or UT 99, kinda feels like a mix between Damnation and Hellgate at times.
(Yeah that won't make it popular.)

It also uses PhysX but is sponsored by ATI (Carries their logo.)

Looks decent (Sorta) but very repetive, again it's like UT'99 or Quake 3 or even Doom.

Hey look at the ground, it has dx11 tesselation Cool Face

actually the hunt was a pretty good game, not sure about the English version but the the Russian was pure jokes.

too much hate here for Russian developers, they may not have the biggest production budget but they make games the good old way, for pc fans.

Agreed. Russian games might not have the biggest budgets around but at least they release a lot of interesting PC exclusives. Sure many of them aren't any good but at least they are trying to do something else than the usual crap we see these days

For the love of your very self, DON'T try "Into the Dark"! This pond of pus can mercilessly destroy your established foundation of gaming knowledge and understanding. Vomit The voice acting alone is a head-shattering experience in the most literal sense. Sad

Don't know if the developer is of Russian origin, but it quite easily fits among the circle of beyond pathetic games for which this thread had unintentionally long ago become. Laughing

And to think they're actually asking money for it... Facepalm Are You Serious
