I don't mind if interactable objects such as ladder etc are highlighted, should their inclusion already be a cause for concern?.
As long as there are options to turn it off. Or levels compensated by having the option to take multiple routes to your objective, or highly interactable levels that are interesting enough to give you that sense of exploration like you had with the original game.
I fear this game will be like any other game out there at the moment.
Linear, cutscene, battle bit, even better cutscene, battle, talk a couple of lines of crappy dialogue with some random, bigger flashier battle bit.. make another dialogue choice that has no relevance whatever you do in the game.. boss. end game.
The original as I remember it was never just about the fighting, leading you onto the next evermore flashy and epic setpiece; it's rpg side and back story took precedence and the game built you up to it's ending through it's story telling, not because you wanted to try out the baddest gun on the end boss just in order to beat the game.
You actually wanted to know what was going to happen next, because of all the choices that lead you up to endgame were made by you.
The sort of game that you could throw plants at the npc's heads just to hear their reaction and eventually have them attack you if you piss them off, forcing you to kill them even if they were major characters.. stack piles of furniture in front of them blow it all up with a rocket launcher just because you could..
well yeh, would be nice if this turned out good.

nice try PC elitist, you either never played the first one or you are just in some hardcore denial, either way your opinion is invalid.
I'll just assume you never played the first one.
my initial statement still stands; if human revolution won't have gigantic maps with the technology available today than Eidos have some explaining to do

It's not a game breaker for me, I'll probably still buy it.
But I really don't understand why there couldn't be an option to turn it off.
I guess using your eyes and your brain is not hip enough these days.

How exactly is this part of their vision (why?)? When did every console game require a "here use this" coloring on objects? I'd understand if it was used for hard to see objects. What idiot does not understand he can use a ladder or a door?

Because game interfaces are not stuck in 1999 ? technology and game design have moved on and it is your choice to accept that or live in denial

Brainwashed much?! "Choice", you say?! That's NOT choice, that's forcing your hand and your decision, and I hope you'll wake up soon from your brain sleep.
You sound like a corporate representative that wants control over short-minded subjects. Or, to that matter, mostly like one of the 'happily' convinced subjects.
_____
Btw, I am also sorry for feeding the trolls. But "choice" made me do it.

What the retarded trolls don't understand is that there's nothing wrong with highlighting objects as long as it's not on ALL THE TIME. Toggle it in options or have a key you hold down(tab in most games with one). Having it on all the time and not being able to turn it off is just really bad design.
What's next? Lock the game at 320x200 and low settings because Jensen has poor eyesight?

I miss the good ole' days when companies made stupid things in games to challange the players (aka weapon degradation in SS2), and not to pull as many derps as possible to play their stupid shit game.

I just don't get why the developers don't just make all handholding toggleable.. If they did nobody would whine about crap like this at all.
Also, I can't believe people actually think zooming out to third-person constantly is "a decade of game design progress".
If there was any "game design progress" we'd have amazing takedowns in first-person(Chronicles of Riddick, anyone?) and a proper first-person cover system(Call of Juarez, anyone?). Oh noes I'm PCELITISTNAZIMANBEARRACISTPIG because I want a first-person game to be in *GASP* first-person. First person.
Okay, I won't whine about it/all the idiots anymore. I'll just pirate the game when it gets released and use that as a demo.
