Anyone tested this? I've been messing with it and it's pretty fast to say the least, I've been a Firefox whore for years and IE9 may just change my mind if it gets better.

Try Chrome, I use it when I'm fed up with FF and the slowness...

Just tried it.

Well it's definately fast. Very fast in their demos, much faster than chrome. But in usual browsing it seems the same, or slightly faster (not really noticeable). It looks better than IE 8. Text generally looks better although the font here on nforce looks like shit with IE 9.

I might try it out for a few more days.

IE9 is so far the cleanest looking browser by default out there, with more screen for the actual contents instead of dozens of buttons and stuff.

That said, I'll stick with Firefox for it's add-ons and perfectly fine performance/behaviour.

Why should they steal WebKit when they could steal the original KHTML (the project Webkit was stolen from) instead?

IE has been a drasticly improved with IE8 tbh, none of the crap that used to plague IE for years. As usual, people are just jumping on the hate wagon without testing or having any clue. IE9 just continues this trend.

That said, as with Chrome, until a large extension library exists for the browser, there is little reason to move though. Smile

So does this finally adhere to the HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.1 and CSS2 standards?

In contrast to what Leo says by the way, many of the things that plague IE as a web developer are still in IE8. It's better, but still far from the other major browsers, and it's still a big massive security hole (as is Safari, for the record).

I likes. Very little clutter, nice design and noticeably faster than its predecessor.

The built in tracking protection is good. Add the following lists:

Most important is:

Seems Microsoft is also adopting the google-chrome-cycle type of development as the first preview build of IE10 has been circling around for a week or so ...

Since two weeks or so I have a problem with IE9. While at first it started up instantly, now it takes 15 secs or so to load. I open explorer and see a blank screen while Google, my homepage, loads. It's not Google loading that takes so long, IE loads something itself. My HDD goes mental, it's like something is being dragged from teh deepest holes of my HDD to load up IE9. What's teh problem here? Any way to find out?

There's the standard things, Shockwave and such. I added videoget myself, I'll disable it and check when I boot the PC again. There's also something called "Research", no additional info. WTF is that?

Add the top two lists (or any other you want) for built-in ad blocking. Smile
