Does DX10 fall under DX11 these days?

Depends from game to game.
Most DX10 cards can use DX11 mode, and benefit from things like compute shaders. But they can't use DX11 only features (hardware tessellation, etc...).

Free CryEngine 3 SDK (a la UDK) comes this summer. |
Finally a good news...loving the comments from all the surprised derpsole users who have never seen anything like this:

You are not missing much, the DX11 multithreaded optimizations are depended on Driver Command Lists a feature which is still absent from nvidia's and amd's drivers...
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=186320&st=0
Pay attention to Sora's posts.
Good old 360 provides perfect support for the feature though.

What can you expect? Some of them still think exclusive console games are developed on consoles themselves ...

I have to say, I am a massive fan of Far Cry and Crysis.
I also have to admit that I preordered the PC version of this game out of respect for the devs (I pirated their previous games and loved them so much I bought afterwards).
I finally have to admit that i've avoided the beta and just this moment tried the MP demo.
OMG it's so much fun! Everything feels REALLY well balanced, the game runs shit HOT at 1080p middle graphics setting on my 460GTX. It looks amazing too!
I have to say I am amazed by how good this is - and I am REALLY hoping the SP is as good as crysis and far cry were!
I am glad i've not played the beta leak.
Also, regarding DX versions - I really dont get a massive shit personally. If what I just saw was DX9 then fuck it i'm happy.
Roll on the 25th March!

Nice to see a unpacker, data is identical in terms of layout as sort of expected so I replaced the (already unpacked) beta build data with this up to date info, as is rather obvious it does not contain much in terms of SP info but a lot of shared files and other stuff updating a lot of things without breaking anything as far as I've noticed. (Can't use the binary folder of course as the .dll won't work but the shader improvements are rather noticeable, extra decals are also present such as full blood and other things, not a huge change or anything though of course.)
EDIT:

Played some more MP... still having fun, now with new toys (the holographic projection is amusing to use)
Collecting dog tags for killstreak rewards is a nice touch.. means that camping snipers won't rack up the support abilities from afar - you will need to get closer to the action if you want rewards. Also this means that you can collect after you die, it seems, which works out pretty well so far.
There are some small issues that ruin the experience though... mouse control still seems off, I just can't get my aim to work just right. Some actions like melee or sliding, for example, are inconsistent. Also that air stomp thing never seems to work, even when i practically land on top of someone. And sometimes things just don't seem right, not sure why.. removing that blur would be nice, for one.

Too bad there's a module that lets you automatically collect dogtags.

Dogtags
Killstreaks
Itsy bitsy tiny maps
Blooooooooooooooom
Innovative `sticky` aiming - bot not aimbot!
Retarded "OMFG THEY TOOK THAT POINT GO GO GO" guiding speech for the ADD retards
What is wrong with Crysis 2 [MP]?
Ah it's the Crytek hate wagon!

Mindermast, create a bat flie anywhere (for example your desktop)
and put this in it:
Code: |
@echo off
C:
cd \Games\Crysis 2 Demo\bin32
start Crysis2Demo.exe +cl_crouchToggle=0 +cl_zoomToggle=0 +i_mouse_accel=0 +g_skipIntro=1 +cl_fov=90 +r_DrawNearFoV=90 +pl_movement.power_sprint_targetFov=90 +cl_sensitivity=30 + r_motionblur=0
|
ofc exchange C: with the drive the demo is on and the path to the demo too.
This will remove mouse acceleration (why the mouse aiming seems to be off), remove motionblur (though I don't see much of a diff) and sets the fov to a usable value, so that you see a little bit more

I was afraid there might be something like that... it's a shame, although it depends on what other modules offer in return.
@PumpAction
Yeah, I have most of those in start up options already, but the mouse is still kinda weird. Also the blur that bothers me is that thing they use for AA... everything at a distance looks blurry, like in Mafia 2. Doesn't seem to be any way to disable that.
And yes, bigger maps would be nice, as I have mentioned before. A bit longer matches as well...
