I"ve started studying networking ..at CCNA1 right now.
I have this host aka host 1 with the Ip 50.50.50.50 / 255.255.255.240
and the default gateway 50.50.50.81
can the host communicate with other hosts outside its network ?
maybe its a dumb question but my question is does the router aka the def gateway has to have the same network bits as the host1 ?
any answers would be appreciated

Not a networking expert, but yes, the gateway has to be on the same subnet (255.255.255.240). Obviously through that gateway you can access a host on another network, that's what routers are for

Or set up a computer as a gatway/router but that's way too much hassle so just get a router.
With this IP and subnet mask you are in the 50.50.50.48 network.
255.255.255.240 subnet mask means you have 4 bits for hosts, this is 16-2 usable addresses.
Your GW should be in the 50.50.50.49 - 50.50.50.62 range.
