Well try doing sth that will get your adrenaline way up high (beta blockers are countering the effect of it if I'm not mistaken). And for low blood pressure you can drink water and eat sth salty...

any reason your doc prescribes something that's pretty far off label for anxiety when there are a million other drugs that are actually for that?

Betablockers have a tendency to remove the physical symptoms of anxiety which usually kills off the anxiety episode completely. Works best for panic attacks. It's often used by musicians and performers that have various levels of stage fright. In recent years it's also an alternative to benzodiazepines (which are addictive and can make things worse).
