Dull game? I'm at Chapter 3 now and the atmosphere in this game is fantastic. Then again, I smell a troll. There hasn't been any backtracking in Dead Space 2 from what I've played. None. Zero.

Sorry man just a lame game in my opinion. I don't care if it looks good. Or if the atmosphere is "good".
Walking in a straight line to grab an item, then turning around and walking back in a striaght line, while enemies spawn right behind you, and loud annoying music plays to attempt to scare you is just NOT FUN to me.

The game is great, but imo, what made Dead Space, Dead Space is gone (for me). Game just doesn't make me soil myself like DS1 did. Feels more like a thriller. Also, I haven't noticed any backtracking, except for the

If you're having trouble with CLONE then give the FLT install a try, flawless now to chapter 8. I have a geforce 9600 is running at 30 fps and high settings and no 16 bit textures. It actually rivals my PS3 DS1 in graphics.

FTL crack works fine. But some nerds that got to chapter 7 already say that there is a error there. Some say they are on chapter 8, all runs smoothly. "shrug" Not there jet. Cant confirm.
Fuck, I want to repair the install because I installed like 80mb of crap, or something, but it doesn't work. Now I have to redownload the whole thing. ugh.

It's not bad.. but it's not what I loved in Dead Space (which was my Game of the Year 2008) I know they said this time they're going to up the action, but still..
On the plus side the controls are 100% fixed, the game controls beautifully (with Vsync off, haven't tried with it enabled) and the graphics are a bit better (physics, particles, lighting, shadows all seem somewhat more refined).
edit Also what backtracking? At least so far the game is literally "move forward, shoot shit, keep going".. There are additional rooms to explore (after you unlock them with power nodes) and there are goodies in every dark corner, but so far I've never been in the same room more than once..

Sometimes the door you walked by that was locked, if you complete a section a little after, it unlocks and you can run back and get some ammo or an audio log or something.
Seriously, am I the only person who actually LIKED the backtracking in the first game? I'm only at Chapter 4 but one thing I dislike about this game is constant "move forward, move forward" on a rail layout. I liked how in Dead Space 1 you actually spent quite a bit of time in the same areas, it made the Ishimura feel like a real "place". Otherwise the presentation seems quite good, "Nicole" is AWESOME.
