Thats what im wondering. It looks like a fake to me, since it would be way to dangerous for someone to attempt this stunt without a safty rope.

The picture is from nasa so it's not fake!
He has a rocket pack on him, wich make for excellent travel in space:-)

I don't think you can see stars when you're in space. I remember that from the moon landing hoax thing.
BTW, just remember someone or something has to be taking the photo.

I'm not an expert either, but this could be because of two reasons.
1. The sunlight reflected from the earth is just so bright that it basicly overloads the film.
2. The time the film was exposed is too short to pick up the very small
amout of light the stars give off.
