Edit: Nevermind I guess you were talking about the Thrustmaster wheel only.
Im too lazy to read about it, but does the Thrustmaster wheel work with PC for example?
Atleast the one I have work on all my systems (X360/PS3/PC).
Yes, I mean the one Sony is bumping for GT5. It's ridiculous, because GT5 is not worth even a $100 wheel. It has to be played the way it's meant to be played - pad.

GT5 is excellent with a wheel. Yes..it's excellent with the driving force GT. The one that SONY is "bumping" for the game. It plays 10x better than it does with a controller and is well worth it.

Or perhaps the only none fanboy
Seriously, can anyone justify spending that amount on a wheel on the PS3? What other driving games are you gonna use it with? I can think of 1 being F1 2010. It's not like a wheel suits arcade racing such as NFS or the others. If it were cross platform (i.e. PC, X360 and PS3) then I can appreciate it might have a larger market but still, 500 is still 500.

500 euro's is expensive for a wheel, but if you've got the money, then why not?

Stop trolling. The wheel has a Gran Turismo logo which justifies *ANY* price $ony might ask for it.

Indeed. GT5 is the "real" "driving" "simulator" () and anyone who things it's shit is a troll.
Either you with us or you troll us.
I don't think it's shit, I just think it's the most overhyped franchise in gaming at the moment.
I respect the pioneer work Polyphony did 15 years ago but they lag behind these days. Instead on innovation (better structured career/menus, AI, new game modes) they just put moar cars in the game and add moar resolution when a new PS console arrives and now and then they invest millions in rather useless stuff like photo mode and B-spec - while the competition focuses on the driving.
But if fanboys are willing to pay 40 bucks for a demo, all hope is lost....

I just bought a game for the 360 called Forza Motorsport 3. Any chance the PS3 has a game like this?
What a wonderful experience this forza game is. It reminds me of Gran Turismo 3 on PS2, but just so much better. I would really love a PS3 game of this caliber. Any suggestions?
someone should make a video of gt5 ai on straights, no matter which part of the track u take those fukers manage to slam at u at maximum speed with overexagerated slip stream which exceeds their maximum speed by at least 50 km/h and engage a pit maneuver

That has never happened to me after more than 10 hours of play.
I've been half ass keeping up with this thread and honestly, I figured most of you haters were just full of shit. I got this for xmas and started playing it yesterday and I have to say, for me, it is a let down.
There's a lot of shit you can do, i'll give them that but after waiting 5 yrs I can understand the disappointment. Glad I didn't pay for it. I do wish I hadn't upgraded my firmware though. I have to say for plain ol' racing (especially the cockpit view) I think Shift is a much better alternative.
Well, it is a weird game. First hour for me was also a disappointment. Slow cars, bad AI, average graphics and just weird menus and options. Then when you start doing challenges and get deeper into the a-spec and get to some better cars it becomes really good. Driving physics is quite diverse and fun. You really get to see the difference in driving Ferrari's, GT-Rs, Vipers, Corvettes, BMWs, Audis and so on. This part is really good and entertaining, AI is still behaving weirdly and race entry requirements are still downright dumb, but driving feeling and physics outweights everything. After this is the last part of the A-spec (lvl 23. and up) and quite a letdown. You spend a lot of time grinding for money because high level cars are very expensive. And some really bad game decisions start to show itself, for instance you have proper Premium models of two F1 cars in the game, but you can't use them in Formula-GT race. Instead of this you need an ugly standard Formula-GT race car with just horrible physics and handling. And that wasn't all, before online dealership was added it was also very hard to get that car. You could only buy it when it came around in used card dealership and this wasn't often.
If they wouldn't add seasonal events that are a fun way to earn money and a really nice online mode, I'd probably stop playing it altogether. Really a weird game, parts of it are brilliant then there are parts that are just below par.
The grinding is what eventually ruins all sim racers for me. All the GT and Forza games I played so far got boring when I needed to replay old events dozens of times to make money.
At the end it comes down to "the one" event that your best car qualifies for that has the highest possible price money - then you replay it until you have the money for the next car.
We really need sim racers with a new career structure.
the only good game to this day is NFS porsche no other game like this made me play a racing game , if they you remade it with higher poly models and new maps i would buy it again
Porsche simply had the best possible career in a racing game. I completed it at least five times and each time it was a blast. They simply nailed it. Start with old cars, then progresively move through events gaining better and better ones and you always had enough cash so you only needed to repeate couple of events. Only bad thing were those Monaco events, they could be a little repetative.

Porsche unleashed, I have it somewhere in my loft, after all these years they never made a game half as good.. Why? Ahh sweet memories
I just downloaded Porsche Unleashed from usenet and installed it on my Win7 x64 machine, works like a charm - but the graphics are fugly and the physics are a joke.
This was state of the art just ten years ago? Gaming has progressed a lot since then.
