I was thinking about getting a car (preferably < 20.000€, max 23.000€).

The BMWs look very nice (much nicer than comparable Audi A4, VW or Merc)

E90:

E92:

E60:

Obviously the E90 is the cheapest, but the E92 looks really nice and the E60 with facelift looks very good aswell.

Now I don't know much about BMWs, but the dashboard looks like crap without the display (navigation would be nice for example).

What else do I need to look at? The different motors shouldn't be a problem, even a 318 would be fast enough for me (140ps... ofc 170ps would be much nicer Smile )

My main problem is that there are so many different editions and I don't know about the build quality when comparing 5 to 3 Sad

What are the major advantages/disadvantages ? Or should I just go with a cheaper E90 (17-18.000) and add the leather interior (1.000-1.300€), navigation dashboard(???€) myself? What about the M design kits? I think that they look very nice..

Too much choice, too little knowledge Neutral

Visually speaking, the E92 is my favourite Smile

edit: unfortunately my technical knowledge on cars is very limited so I won't go any further Razz

E92 of course! Smile Then you PM me and I'll find you a perfect fitting set of wheels for it Very Happy You need the right diameter, width and offset, when fitting something that sits just right, your car will look 20 times better, I promise you that.

I looked at a 320d (Coupé = E92) and it was quite nice! 22.000€, >170 PS but it's 200+ km away so... I'll look around and see if I can find a car at a local dealership.

The newer diesels seem to have really great engines!

Meh... and I have to talk about the financing

I think the E60 looks pretty ugly actually..the E92 is by far the prettiest of the three!

IMO all those 3 looks really horrible. Only good looking thing BMW ever made was the E46.

Also, bimmers are mostly used as kebab-rides.

I hate you.

i also like older model but if one to chose from 3 of those it would be 92
personally i would never buy a bimmer, audi s5 is kinda my dream car, looks nice and that v8 sounds better than any bimmer

Hmm, your not into Series 6xx ? Since you can get one like that, second hand ofc with your current amount of $$, love 6xx series <3

But if no, i'd go with E92.

This 645 is currently at 19k Euros with 100km driven, car is from 2005, would be insta buy from me Laughing

Just going by the looks, I say the E60 although the E92 looks a bit nicer. The E60 does have 4 doors though and that might be more practicable than the 2 doored E92. Anyway it is your choice.

Well yes but then I would've considered the touring too and I wanted the car to be a little bit sporty.

btw after checking my financial situation (and realizing that I have to pay for food too!!) I opted out and went for another car.

It's not a Dacia!!

Laughing My granddad drives this beast!

Haha! Very Happy <3

But we must admit that the cockpit/interiors were rather on the cutting edge for those times Laughing

I guess that we need something cheaper, that's why the trusty Lada Riva 1500 Estate is the perfect choice for a compromise of practicality and design!

E46 m3. With the amount of money you are willing to spend, you can get a VERY good one with low mileage. Plus, all the new BMW's are full of computers, so if something goes wrong, the fixing of it will be expensive.
Imo bimmers are heading in the wrong direction with their styling, looks way too roundy and ugly. Though I do like the new 1-series, still roundy, but somehow compact and good looking.

Looks the best imo.
Think they stopped making them in 2006, so if you find one of those, its not that old.
E60 is just plain ugly. New 5 series is alot prettier, but it is probably out of your price range.

Out of those 3 i'd choose the E92 any second
I'm not a BMW (or Merc) fan tho , i wouldn't buy one and even if i won one i'd sell it

I'd say going for a either a 320d (177hp should be enough) , or the more expensive 330d
don't see the point in having x drive on a car like this

Anyway , having 150+ hp and not using it is really pointless
