http://kotaku.com/5692552/rumor-biowares-new-mass-effect-is-a-multiplayer-spin+off

Kotaku reports a source told them it's a "multiplayer-focused Mass Effect spin-off currently in the works at BioWare Montreal."

It's "a game that's designed to appeal more to the Call of Duty market." "Expect player progression in the vein of Activision's wildly popular online shooter along with some sort of single-player component that does not feature Mass Effect's Commander Shepard in a leading role."

Of course it's a rumor for now.

Bioware that exists today is shit. Every game is worse and worse. Dragon Age was not a very good game but what they are doing with Dragon Age 2 is just sad.

So true and sad.

We don't know what it is either, but it certainly looks like a modern or semi futuristic shooter. Perhaps it's going to blend shooter with role-playing game a bit like Mass Effect 2 is.

Source & teaser: Kotaku

Up to now there is only speculation whether it is related to Mass Effect (notice the rifle compared to this one from ME2: ) or a new IP.

And then there is this: http://www.tomsguide.com/us/FPS-Console-PC-game,news-8068.html

It's the mass effect movie for sure Smile

The games they make today are not representative of what I would consider a 'good Bioware' game. However my views on Bioware deteriorate with every new game they release.
But I suppose I don't qualify as a "Bioware gamer" since the image doesn't show Mass Effect 1 + 2 boxes, and so my opinion about them and the quality of their games doesn't matter right?

I think nostalgia affects your judgement a bit. The Icewind Dale series was also a bit shallow (combat oriented) compared to Baldur's Gate IMO. For me:

Baldur's Gate series > Mass Effect series > Icewind Dale series > Dragon Age

(in terms of the overall quality of the games, not RPG depth)

Well let me think and racionalize this.

a)You are comparing the overall quality of a game released in 1998 with another released as a AAA title in 2010.

b)And you still rate the 1998 one in first.

I wonder if that doesnt mean something about Bioware actual games quality...huumm?

In wich case the boxes that epsilon showed demonstrate a mature and aquired taste in good games, something i found lacking this days.

Pretty much my view also. Icewind Dale was Interplays response to the success of Diablo and direct competition of Diablo 2. I never really liked ether of them, I'd maybe even put Icewind 1-2 behind Dragon Age.

My chart of Bioware games would go something like this:

BG1> BG2 > KOTOR > ME 1-2 > Dragon Age > Jade Empire > Neverwinter Nights

Nothing wrong with Mass effect or Mass effect 2 both were good games , personally i am looking forward to the third and any spinoffs , but i try before i buy and if i consider the game to be crap then i dont buy ( cod BO is another i wont buy ), most on here do the same.

New rumor, this time from a "trusted source": http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/rumor-mass-effect-3-to-be-revealed-at-the-vgas-will-include-mu/

It's Mass Effect 3, as Sony Russia actually said (look a few posts up), and the game will feature multiplayer.

Remember that EA said that singleplayer games are officially over and that the worst mistake they did in Mirror's Edge (and Dead Space) was that they didn't put in a multiplayer mode (but they "fixed" their mistake with Dead Space 2) so even if this ISN'T Mass Effect 3 I can guarantee that when ME3 IS revealed it WILL have multiplayer.

As long as I get my full - story arc finishing - single player experience I don't give a damn how bad they fuck up a ME3 mp to be honest.

You never know. I think once The Old Republic is done, we'll take a fresh look at the market. And we'll have learned a lot. While making it, you learn an enormous amount. It's one of the nice things about having these properties in our back pocket... If we want to use something we own as a source for a game, it's easy to do. So yeah, you never know. We've got this giant product to launch, but once that's done we'll consider next steps.
