I thought if anyone could see the division it would be women, it's men who have a hard time telling the difference.

Men are more intent on physical attraction then women. Women are much more emotional in their relationships and they frequently use physical attraction as a means to an end.

This is quite the stereotype, but I have no doubt it's true in terms of generalities. But then again, if you mix a bunch of 10's with a bunch of 1's, you get 5. In general, the general number here is "5". Despite no one in the fictional survey here was even close to it. So, let's not go there.

Fact is, the norm "out there" in relationships is that the boundries are set by women. Their view of what a relationship should be is: "Strict monotonous relationship", a girlfriend "gets jealous" when her boyfriend has a certain image of a nude on his desktop. Whether he just has it because he likes the "physical rouse" it creates in him is utterly irrelevant to her.
She see's it as him being unfaithful - she cannot think outside the fact of emotions, so in this way she's trapped by them. (We're still talking stereotypes here, mind you).
To a woman, it's much more of a "shame" to have a naked image of the opposite sex whilst in a relationship, she bases this (probably) on how the standard is set for herself, she wants to have a loyal man, that thinks only of her.
In reality, men think of other women. They think of bodies, and they think of having sex with bodies (physical attraction). My claim is that men, largely know what the difference is between physical attraction, and emotional attraction (this based on own experience, which you obviously haven't ...).
The rules {in a relationship} set (by women) are the following: Physical attraction/Love are one and the same, they can not be separated.
As a man, the perspective I have is a bit more nuanced. I very much emotionally am attracted and love my fiancée and girlfriend (6 years this September) - but I can accept the fact that the bodies of other women will entice and make me physically aroused. And I can accept that in her as well.
However - fact is that "the rule" says; "a faithful boyfriend shouldn't". And in this way, women do not tell the difference.

I think this line of thinking (much) derives from a common factor of insecurity among women; not wanting to lose their boyfriends. Versus, the security in feeling that if the boyfriend does not look at other girls, they are faithful.
This "strain" leads to a bit of a hassle in relationships, I should wager. Particularly when the guy feels
a) Partly ashamed (since he's hurting her)
b) Partly frustrated (since she's doubting him)
c) Partly annoyed (since she's limiting his freedom in the relationship)

Women usually talk in a derogatorial manner about "men who have images of other girls in their computer", and reinforce sexual taboo's. The common "thing" is that watching naked women is something that's bad, no matter if you're single, or (particularly) if you're in a relationship.
Think of this:
a) The acceptance of a girl (in a relationship) buying herself a dildo.
vs.
b) The acceptance of a man (in a relationship) buying himself a plastic-vagina.
If (like I imagined) alternative a sounds "rather natural", whereas b sounds "rather weird", then perhaps you're starting to grasp in which direction I am thinking.

Yes, I was thinking of a single mans/womens perspective, which is what I thought you were referring to. I agree with your assessment, as the rules are completely different in relationships.
But you have to admit, your first post on the subject was rather vague.
Lets try to keep the personal attacks to a minimum, theres no need.
