This would be a PITA to manage i'm sure, as every change would have to be initiated by a DBA, but would be amusing to be able to place bets with our post counts. Have a night of Full Tilt Poker with each other, single table, tourney style, 100 post buy-in, top 2-3 place for the winnings.
I think it would be amusing but ultimately would require too many man hours to actually implement.

I like the idea. To make it easier we could arrange a poker tourny somehow and just give everyone starting chips equivilant to their post count. Afterwards we could just get Rinze to batch update everyones post count accordingly.
I'll wait to see if Rinze likes this idea enough to agree to the above - and if so, then we will need to start hunting an online poker environment that will let us do this - ensuring everyone starts with a specific set of chips!

So if you loose you'll loose post count, which is tied to: number of your posts. That means you loose all your posts...

You don't think the server counts the number of posts from a user every time it displays their post count do you?

No but those two are connected. When you delete my post my post count goes down...

I highly doubt they're connected as closely as you think Likely just a row within your specific user column that details total post count, then if a post is deleted it just issues post count - 1 as well as removing the post, I hiiighhhllyyy doubt it would mess anything up changing the post count column and just leaving the actual posts. The only time I could see this being an issue is if you some how took your post count down to 0 gambling it all away, then a moderate deleted an old post and pushed you into -1

I like this, but definitely don't allow full post counts to go in at once, people who don't play poker alot will underestimate how easy your mind will let you nickle and dime every one of them away.
Specifically on Full Tilt it could be done on like 5/10 tables which are 350 Minimum buyin up to 1000. Can reload at any time of course. May also wish to consider playing Pot Limit instead of No limit if the idea goes anywhere, however this could also just be decided amongst the current players
Edit: Also because you can just restake your chips constantly in fulltilt to 1000, I think this solution would be quite feasable
