I know it isnt really an oc beast, but mine is just pathetic. Atm im sitting on 935/1115 and fan on 34% Temp at idle is about 48C and load 69C which seems ok when I checked other people's temps. Ive read most people getting nearly 1000 on core and 1200 memory on stock voltages and even more with higher voltage. I put votlage on 1.22 from 1.174 and still didnt fix shit. Even now I get some weird freezes when playing fifa for example. Even at like 970/1150 I had decent temps at about 71C load with fan on 40%, but then I get black screen or some weird shit when my screen kinda moves so the right edge of the screen is in the middle of the screen and when i move my mouse to left edge it pops out from the right edge of the monitor. When I change clocks by even 1 unit downwards it gets fixed. Havent seen that in a while tho.
Anyways is it possible that Ive got a bad card or something? On stock it works fine, but oc capabilities are low for even this card.

Find the limits for the core and memory separately first. I dunno what the highest safe voltage is for the 6870 though, voltage on my 5870 was a lot lower.

did you get a reference card? who's the maker? If it's someone like xfx they're notorious for making custom making shoddy boards.

Ive got ASUS with already a bit higher voltage and 915 core clock which is kinda nonexistant oc from 900. Other than that its reference. Arent all the 6870 cards reference atm btw?
I checked some overclocking reviews where they set it on 1.22 so it should be safe.

Tbh XFX is shit these days, they make horrible "own" versions of radeon cards, cheap PCB´s, cheap condensators + noisy non-reference coolers. I had XFX 4890 CF setup, card didnt even fucking have sensor for VRM temps (Only which you could monitor was core temp) + it overclocked like 20 mhz from core Very Happy. I can only imagine XFX version from latest fermi cards, the explosion would be massive when you turn computer on.

EDIT: Also, the black PCB on my radeon cards, started to change color to white on some points after like 3 months of use GG Very Happy
