Try this: "Stereo 3.5mm Male to RCA Female adapter". Play around with the order, or try 2xRCA Female/1x3.5mm Stereo or something like that
Here's an example on Newegg

And yeah, these things are easy to make, you should see some of the crap my dad and I have cooked up in our time |
Yeah exactly lol, my old man is like that, from his work days and being a ham radio operator for years the shit hes made and knocked up is beyond ... But its also good to do hands on stuff like that.. But then you end up repairing shit for other people all the time, ontop of pc crap for family, it gets old and tiresome after a while...
I was happy my samsung monitor was easy to fix from the dreaded flickering issue, but everybody uses cheap ass capacitors these days so its no shock really..

hey can i just use the audio visual lead of original xbox tv shit anyway to that adapter? i know it has 3 leads and needs only two used but surely that be fine? its prob cheaper to buy phono leads of length if needs be male to female rather than a new package for it that cost like 16 notes or even more..

Nope, sorry mate - they're completely different cables. You can't use the Classic AV cable on the 360, they don't even connect let alone work. Look on eBay for a proper HDMI cable that has Audio Out sockets. Should find one pretty cheap, just don't buy a non-MS branded one.

I inherited my dad's philosophy of "doesn't work? I'll make it work!" btw
Cable too short? Fuck it, cut one end off and solder an extra bit on. Ikea construction doesn't hold properly? No problem, saw it until it fits properly and just put a screw in it! |
yeah extending leads is not that hard as long as its not that shitty headphone cable with the fiber thin coating shit strandy bollox.. Heck I loath that.
well its basically a 3 phono lead rca set. audio and visual reb white yellow leads std shit.. so could prob use just two for the audio and thats it.. well in theory its teh same as a lead u buy for the job ur just leaving out the yellow one normally if i remember..

shit now u confused me more, hdmi with proper audio out.. But I wont be using the hdmi for the audio, the audio for non monitor speakers on 360 has to come from the std connection that would be the rca leads no?
i mean look at the official package for it..
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31M-DbD2khL.jpg
see the std connection instead of the male plugs to tv etc they use female so u can output where u want.. surely that lead there is teh same its just femal variety not male..?

ok calm down lol,
im still betting what i said would work, rca from xbox original cable carries audio if i plugged that into the adapter and to the pc it would be the same as buying another seperate rca audio lead set..
its all about seeing what costs i could save utilizing what i got already thats all sabin, not trying to make it harder
I will be using HDMI for the video signal.

If they're separate RCA leads that you can remove from the Xbox AV cable then yes, of course they're work |
well maybe the leads u got originally with ur xbox were different i dunno, all i know is the arcade box here had a cable that does the audio and video as a scart type plug into the xbox then three coloured phono leads out that plug in the front of my kids 32" tv or via the back with a phono to scart adapter.. no need to go ballistic..
If u had read in my earlier post you would of seen me saying I wonder if I could save money buy just buying an extension set of rca leads and join it up with the male ends of the xbox orginal lead that way I dont have to buy over priced bullscrap for the xbox lead wise

I dont mind who's ideas work etc, it was open discussion about options I dont really dislike anyone on here I toy and joke alot and insult apparently that goes to far but I never really dispise or "hate" its a bit strong a word really.. Yeah plenty of nubs at times but I can openly call myself one, can the rest of them I wonder..
Even anyone I may of said to others at times is a total dickhead or something, dont mean I wont converse with them just means its a bit of steam letting off and that one dont see eye to eye.. shit its pretty normal but forums are worse places for such banter.
But I wont go off on one because I feel someone is not taking note of what I am saying, or feel that is what is happening.. gee I dunno. This place is the fucking pits at times But the diverse info and stuff keeps me here and not a perma ban from the mods of course
Ive yet to make another login but you never know lol..

Shouldn't be any scaling needed, and you've got 0% scaling atm so yeah o_O

Yeah I see what you mean there with the 0% I did notice, what I really was getting at was, when it was not selected it was in the middle and i had black borders , So when I enabled that slider with the check box, i had to move the slider to far right and the screen scaled up.. See what I mean? even though I guess its an illusion? cause its growing and reducing the black bar space but then it says 0 on the slider when done
Hmm think thats it, anyhow it was weird and wasnt sure it was right as its my first 1080p pc monitor.

pwerelds wrote: | I never connected mine through HDMI, so I think that's why it used some underscan; it was never enabled for either of my monitors (both on DVI) when I had my 5870 |
Yeah this is a hdmi or vga only, i really dont understand why it has a vga lol you cant use the screen with a vga properly it wont let you use the 1920 res ffs... I guess they know well enough Dvi and hdmi is basicaly same digital signal one without audio hook.. So they assume you will use a converter like i did from dvi..
oh well its working really well now and looks great Took a while to calibrate the colours the std settings were fucking terrible, but its all good now and the black is black the white is white, and the gradients are not all blocky..
Cheers for the input.

You can also download an ICC profile from here, made by DigitalVersus specifically for your monitor
I've had great results with their ICC profiles for my Samsung monitor, which is aweful on default settings. I'll have a look at the settings I used for that, but generally you just set the contrast/brightness to something like 75%, set colours to 6500K or so and then load the profile. Worked very well for my Samsung; still not perfect, but at least now greys are actually grey

sounds familiar, I use a specific one for my samsung 226bw, which is great but I still think the white is a shade tinted yellow almost.. It might just be compared to the new screen I got as the whites are like very bright and look almost true white.. Ill check that profile out, and thanks for that as you probably had to take a look for it ( appreciated ) ..
I am running this new one at 6500k as I think its prob the best to start with, and most stay at 6500k anyhow so far as ive noticed with all my monitors I have had.
