I hear ya dude, there has been a real lack of quality zombie films. The last good one was the Dawn remake, and for tv we had DeadSet which was really good as well. But other than that nothin really good at all. At least we have what looks like it could be a really good zombie series with TWD.

Im assuming you havent seen Rec? Surely it wasnt as great as Snyder/Romero's but it sure gives you the chills.

Yeah I have seen it but i dont really think of it as a zombie move, it's more like 28 days later where some infection turns people batshit.

I really did see both 28 days later and [rec]'s infected behaved alot like Zack Snyder's zombies in the DotD remake and they worked aswell even though they dont share the same "motive".
Although I have to agree with you on Dead Set marvelous show they ought to make more of that.

The problem with the Dawn of the Dead remake by Snyder is that it wasn't horror, it was action. No real trepidation or social commentary in it, just mainly fearless slaughter of zombies that could run and jump. 28 days later & [rec] weren't zombie movies to begin with but 28 days later was the closest to recapture some of the true zombie horror element.

True, it's his trademark, hell he's making a family flick about owls bet he edited half the film in slow motion with some owls avoiding spears and shit. 28 days later worked flawlessly, the tension, believable characters and great scenery. Though I still think [rec] captured not only great zombies but very solid horror.

Well..... uh.... I guess it's still better quality than the pre-VCD days of RM and Vivo movies. :/

Yeah because movie and tv-makers usually follow a comic or a books story closely when doing a movie or tv-show.

Totally ready for "Walking Dead" now after finishing and going over the incredible details inside "World War Z". WOW. Yeah makes "Day by Day: Armageddon" seem trivial. Real good sh*t in there and perhaps even a "How To" on avoiding any screw ups if it ever came to pass. Doubt the forthcoming "World War Z" movie will be as detailed or gory as the book but ya never know.
Still, I cannot think of any more dangerous kind of Undead Zombie than those in 28days/weeks.. fast, can run, tainted body spray can infect (not just bite or scratch).. its not like in Zombieland you can run around with twin chainsaws cutting the Undead up. All that airborne infected matter caused by spurting bodies could easily hit open parts of a person (eyes, ears, mouth) without you even knowing. Not good.

Yeah I suppose I could have listened to the audio one if I wanted too but it would have taken forever waiting for the actors to HTFU! Plus its like TV - it "spoon-feeds your entertainment" whereas books lets your imaginations flourish!
Quote: | oh an 28 days later is not a zombie movie. They are just insane infected people not the undead. | Yep I took that into account. Infection is infection no matter how you slice it you are still threatened except with 28days/week's RAGE contagion causes the infected to become super-human like in comparison to most Undead. Give the ability of an infected/undead to RUN and that changes everything in terms of the frequency of spread. Scary.. whereas Zombies that simply move slowly it at least gives the defenders time to plan.

Yep I'm hooked.. My biggest concern initially was "gore levels" and "lack of power, gas, basic sh*t" which the likes of ZombieLand treated as being arcadish. Not so here: tons of gore, no power, limited resources.. raw Zombie Apocalypse goodness. The Hospital part near the beginning was erie -- well done! Of course very "28days later" but thats ok. MORE MORE damn it! Power to the Undead Hordes!! GORE MORE GORE! ENTRAILS FOR EVERYONE
