3 hours. I am getting very impatient and excited. Can't think of a way to kill the next 3 hours.

Although I agree with you almost entirely about a lot of DLC (especially DLC that is already on the disc like the Yoda/Darth Vader thing in Soulcalibur 4), since a lot of it appears to simply be things that were cut from the game to sell for extra later as DLC, there's something I've always been curious about when I read rants like these: Did you feel this way about expansion packs? Because some DLC, for example the GTA4 DLC or the Borderlands DLC, really does add a great deal of extra content, much like a "mini-expansion." And in these cases, the DLC doesn't piss me off in the slightest.
If, however, you still dislike these types of DLC, I'm just curious as to why you dislike them so much? Is it because the thought of someone else buying the game later on for a discount price just upsets you that much? You do realize that products like games essentially lose value as they have been out for longer, so just about anyone can buy any game cheaper a year from now than you can today, right?
It's true that I'd love to see game developers return to the expansion pack model of new-content-milking, but I don't think your reasons for hating DLC are the right ones.

DLC can be ok if it does add a lot of content. The GTA and Fallout 3 DLCs added a lot. I hate retailer specific DLC where you only get if you preorder or buy from a certain store. DLC that is nothing more than a new weapon pack is annoying as hell. Mini expansions = ok though.

No I don't hate those types of "dlcs" as you call them. In the old days they used to be called expansion packs - and they are exactly that, still today. I love expansion packs, what I hate is gay dlcs that add nothing to the game other than a stupid side-quest, a mediocre weapon, a fucking piece of clothing, or a crappy car.

Your comment almost sounds as if somehow you didn't see that I mentioned expansion packs several times in my post, but that just can't be possible. Regardless, we appear to be on the same page with this.
However, the kind of DLC that just adds horse armor or whatever... is not getting that really a good enough reason to not buy/wait to buy a game you'd normally buy? Most of that stuff isn't even worth stealing.

It's mainly because when the real "dlcs" come out I'd like to have all of them under one game on steam, without having to use games for windows live etc.

Surprised no one has talked about there being no release of the "free" version
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Picked this up at a retail store midnight launch and get home to install it and Steam refuses to install the game saying to wait 3 more hours. First time I've ever bought a game and brought it home to have the game refuse to install or let me play it.
So I go to the Steam forum and others are angry saying it's an unexpected inconvenience and other people are replying saying "That wouldn't be fair" which is lame because hey, the sun rises here first too. Hey the sun sets on the west coast three hours later, that's not fair. I happen to like daylight a lot.

Since Steamworks seems to be such an effective protection expect to see many more games using it and many more games that won't let you install them until the unlock time.

Hasn't this happened with other Steam games, though? Some stores will let people buy the physical copy early but they all have to wait until Steam considers it officially released.
I don't buy games very often so I haven't gone through this myself, but I swear I've read people complaining about this on boards for many other games in the past.

A page or two further back from that post is the X360 DLC"s but they should work unless the BSA format differs though this is highly unlikely but I'll know soon, untested on the PC version at the moment though (Steam really is waiting to the last minute with this key stuff it seems, 30 minutes left until release or so and it's still not available so I can't unpack the rest of the data, haha.)

It's all done so that's not a issue but I'm going to configure things a bit so it's not all ready.

This?

(D2D messed up the order and sent the download link for the game with the pre-order extra listed as unavailable, can't use it yet though as the decryption keys aren't active.)

It's on page 29, if you want to read responses to it. |
That's not the DLC, this is the DLC:

So now that it's out we can unlock and load up all this DLC? Jbeckman did you try the xbox stuff yet?
