It's no longer about storage space, it's about standards. A new optical storage format will have to fight with bluray.

Of course they won't sell them yet, first you milk bluray for all that it's worth.

Then move on to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc and make the stupid consumers buy all the movies and series all over again.
