|
 |
I'm on a small budget so here we go:
AMD Athlon II X4 640 (4x3.0GHz)
MSI 760GM-E51 (Thoug I'd prefer the Biostar 880G+ because of it's faster Radeon 4250, but that was out of stock)
2GB DDR3-1333
500W Silverstone Strider Power supply
Midi Tower with 2x80mm fans
Samsung Spinpoint F3 7200rpm,32MB cache 750GB HDD
311€
--
Will buy the parts tomorrow from Alternate (www.alternate.de) So it was important for me that they have the parts in stock
Alternatively I could go for smaller WD 640 GB Caviar Blue but as far as I know the F3s are faster and more reliable, right?
Next month I'll add a GTX 460 (preferably with 256 bit, 1GB) & maybe a Full HD 24"
=> NFOrce GIF plugin <= - Ryzen 3800X, 16GB DDR4-3200, Sapphire 5700XT Pulse

ninja'd me sabin I edited my initial post with the future update information
I even thought about getting the new GTS450 but they are just 35€ cheaper than the GTX460, which should be MUCH faster, right?

Seems as if I'll finally be able to play some of the games I missed over the time...
Mafia 2, Dirt 2/F1 2010, Batman Arkham Asylum, NFS: Shift, Assasins Creed II, Battlefield Bad Company 2, the newer Total War games, GTA IV and the DLCs...
Well at least in a month. What WILL suck is that I'll be stuck on a 15" 1024x768 POS-Display (at least it's flat )

I went for AM3 because if I should need more processing power in the future I'll just put in a little bit more RAM and a 6 core Thuban
And thank you guys!

You know what? Sad part of the story is that the 880G with it's radeon 4250 onboard crap should be quite faster than my current GeForce 7600go thats running in my lappy

I would have gone with a Athlon X3 and 4gb RAM.
You went 2gb, man. Never go 2gb.

The X3 might be as good for gaming but the X4 is great for rendering (on stock speeds it even beats a Core i5-750 )which is for me just as important as gaming
I might even go instantly for 4GB as ram is quite cheap right now with 35€ per 2GB
And I just don't see any personal need for more than 4GB right now. What would need more than 4GB anyways? (except server stuff and VMs?) Video Editing?

Not sure this will be able to handle minecraft
speaking of..I burned down the tree house with your lighter! lmao
Very nice setup, only thing I would change is the MB to gigabyte but that's just personal preference.
As for the memory, Games are getting heavier on memory as they come out. I dunno if windows keeps doing it's superfetch shit while in game but I've seen my memory go up to 3.1gb used while playing the witcher, 2.4 or so playing mass effect 2. If you have the memory, it'll get used since it's there and the game doesn't have to keep working around only having 2 GB to work with.
My system right now as is with nothing but steam, alt binz and my browser is using about 1.5GB of memory. If I did that with only 2GB I could see shit starting to slow down soon.

Good points spykez but did you consider that win7 always reserves more mem than it needs? I currently never had any problems with 2 GB in my lappy :/
And there is no gigabyte in my price range You are quite lucky to live in the US as the hardware over there is really dirt cheap

Well, if you got a way to ship it, buy it through me than lol, did that for another member on here, think it was pmflcheese or whatever his name was. sin was going to do it as well but ended up finding a deal out there.
I got 2GB in my laptop as well and runs amazing but I don't do nearly as much on my laptop as I do my desktop. When it comes to games, you'll notice all the difference, especially in larger worlds, Fallout 3, The Witcher, Borderlands etc etc.

Well I'd go with 4 GB especially if you'll use it for rendering. Not to mention 64 bit application and OS.
The more the merrier

Thanks for the offer! But I can't wait anymore Am totally hyped, this is like my 5th thread because of a new comp

Some of the X2 and X3 based on Deneb can be unlocked to X4 ... but I'm going for athlon II x4, nothing to unlock there

highly doubt that especially with 2mb vs 8mb cache |
Yeah sorry I took a look at i5-750 strangely clocked at 2.4 not 2.66 GHz. Though it's not much of a difference! Surprisingly both, cinema4d in multithreading nor 3ds max perform more than 2-5% faster than on the x4

btw is there anything comparable like this on any other hardware shop you know?
http://www.alternate.de/html/pcbuilder/circleView.html?cn=1&tn=BUILDERS
It's really nice that stuff that isn't compatible is automatically removed from the choices! Select a too powerful gfx card and you won't see any 350W PSUs anymore f.e.

Update: Bought and assembled everything.
Works great with Win 7 x64
Threw Cinebench 11.5 at it and it was amazing how big the difference was to my Core 2 Duo 2x2GHz :O (And I had ~200-400% performance gain in Live for Speed with 20 AI racers)
The HD4250 is OK but I'll need a replacement for it quite fast But plans changed a little bit and it seems as if I'll be stuck to this 15" 1024x768 crap tft for a little longer... a GTX460 would be totally overpowered so I thought about buying a 8800gt from ebay. Well and it seems as if those ones go for ~30€! I'd say good deal right?
I could even try to grab a 4870 (512 sometimes 1GB) for ~40-50€!
What do you think? And what is with all the hate towards XFX. Do they really suck that much?!
