|
 |
I got an Acer Aspire 5920g and its screen shows distortion (kinda random horizontal lines, pink and other colours)
I'm wondering which part is faulty ? Because if it's the gfx card, then I can replace it (MXM slot). What is the usual cause of that symptom ?
Also, I have selected "Video output = Both" in its BIOS and have connected an external CRT to the VGA slot, but it doesn't send signal there, only the laptop's screen. Wtf.
Is there some diagnostic proggy I can run ?

It's 8600m gt I believe ...
I'm thinking of trying some 3d benchmark to see if it's gonna crap out completely under heavy load, what do you think ?
I'm just worried that I'm gonna replace the card, and boot right into the same problem (the horizontal lines are *immediately* visible)

You're right, a few days ago I'd thought about testing with HDMI, but I don't have a cable and they're expensive. But it's worth it for a test, since I'm stumped, so I'll buy one. (It's probably going to output NO signal though, right ? Like through VGA)
If you or anyone has any other ideas, let me know.

I've had an Acer laptop and an Acer monitor and a similar problem eventually appeared on both, except lines are vertical. In fact, the Acer laptop has about 20 of those lines now. I'm never buying an Acer screen of any sort ever again.

yeah acer is pretty much like a lottery, guess my gf got lucky, it broke only ones, power button stopped working after a week of use, which was pressed 5-6 times or something like that
acer=shit, i'd never buy acer myself nor would recommend it to anyone
