Basically, no, they don't.
They do exist, and you can get them though..like the Apple 24" LED Cinema Display
Hope you don't mind overpaying for what essentially is a monitor worth about a third of what Apple sells it for
As for 1080p monitors: I suggest you check out a lot of reviews. You can also check www.digitalversus.com - not every monitor will be on there, but a lot are, and they are pretty honest in their reviews. A lot of monitors that a lot of people think are awesome turn out not to be, most of the time because manufacturers simply straight out lie about contrast and/or use crappy panels that have shit colours. In some cases they even change the panel in retail samples, and DV have noted that in several reviews.

No, it's because 1920x1200 is a 16:10 resolution, whereas 1920x1080 (1080p) is a 16:9 resolution. That just fits better with movies and such, and it's much easier to advertise.
As far as LED goes, I really haven't been keeping track. When I bought my current monitor (LG W2253V, not the -PF with Philips panel, and it's 1920x1080) there hardly were any monitors with LED backlights at affordable prices, so you really just gotta check reviews to see how good they are.
I'd definitely opt for a monitor at 1920x1080 though, the added space you get over 1680x1050 is nice, and it's a resolution at which you can run any game with moderate hardware flawlessly.

Another site that actually provides proof and not just some subjective nonsense http://www.flatpanelshd.com/reviews.php. I dont trust CNET tests at all, judging by their TV ratings
AFAIK flatpanels dont have the best meter for blacklevels though. But dont worry, todays monitors are so bad at blacklevels that their meter will do just fine.

The site linked above is decent, although their reviews are of mixed quality. Some have a lot of bullshit text with subjective 'facts', whereas others do it properly.
Nui, you really have nothing good to say about anything other than Plasma TV's, or do you?

The war is long from over, I doubt we'll see affordable OLED any time soon
Same on the mobile front, AMOLED vs. Super-LCD is a big discussion at the moment

While the thread is still here, may I ask why there's sometimes such a strong preference for the 1920x1200 screens as opposed to 1080p? Does the small increase in vertical space make any significant difference?
I am just wondering... I have never used a 1200 screen, nor have I seen them side by side. I have a 1080p LG W2253TQ myself... And as far as I know there are some decent LG LED 1080p models as well.

Personally I'd go for 1080p, but anything with more vertical pixels is better for anything productive.

We can hope OLED will come soon as tech has advanced a lot. But I guess companies think they can still squeeze money from LCD/plasma tech.
As for AMOLED vs Super-LCD, I've read a bit about it, but don't follow that war in great detail. But as much as I could see by comments it's a pretty heated discussion.

Well, there are a couple of reasons why I prefer 1920x1200 over 1920x1080.
First one is I get more space (120 pixels 11.1% more space). It may not be much, but every bit helps when you have your desktop filled with open windows. Also you see a bit more in video games that have correct FOV implementation.
Second reason is I don't like when products are made worse with introduction of new models. In this case resolution change from 1920x1200 to 1920x1080 in most new 24" monitors.
So I finally narrowed it down to 2 monitors and I can't decide which one to buy :
LG W2220P-BF - 22", 1680x1050, e-IPS
http://www.all-monitors.com/monitors/manufacturers/pos/lg_w2220p
or
LG W2286L - 22", 1680x1050, LED, TN
http://www.all-monitors.com/monitors/manufacturers/pos/lg_flatron_w2286l
Any recommendations?

Ugh that's a hard choice. Quick check tells me both stay under 1 frame input lag, both need calibration for the colours (although going by Digital Versus' review of the W2220P, for that montiro all you need to do is set the colour scheme to sRGB).
The only point where they really differ is:
- The TN panel one has slightly better contrast, and slightly better black levels
- The IPS panel is more even; the TN panel has some backlight bleeding at the bottom
Either one would be a fine choice I guess, you probably can't check them out in real life to see which one you prefer?

I got 3 24" 1920x1200 S-IPS LCD's on my desk right now. 2x Dell 2408 and a HP LP2475w
I much prefer 1920x1200 over 1080p.
Don't get AMOLED, they don't last that long, meaning the pixels begin to die after a couple years.

I doubt he would be spending thousands of dollars on a monitor ... (I assume you actually mean LED backlit LCD ) |
I don't presume to know what he would spend. It's not written.
This is kinda like Microsoft clippy "Did you mean LED backlit LCD?" no I mean AMOLED!

I thought AMOLED is used only on mobile phones like HTC...

It's actually being used as portable fold out displays now.

I saw this today so I grabbed it since my piece of crap Acer crapped out on me.

I figured it was a good deal, $199 (Canadian) and all for a 24" LED LCD. I kind of hate the way the stand looks but I'll get used to it.
