Finally decided to upgrade after 3 years.

Fractal Define R3 Black Pearl. Was planning to order the White version, but it was delayed, so went for the black instead.

Motherboard installed.

CPU installed. Next up is the crappy default fan. (will be changed in the near future to a H70.)

I always remove the original Thermal grease and add new one.

Cleaned (sry for quality)

CPU fan installed. (duh)

Gigabyte GTX 460 Factory OC. Very quiet card, only downside is heat while running SLI. Make sure you have a nice Side panel fan that sucks the warm air between the cards, out of the case.

SLI?

Modular PSU. Removes the overflow of cables you dont need

Most things installed. Only hard drives and DVD player left.

I had to leave my old X-FI card, since i was out of space Sad . Forced to run with the built-in audio.

what? The backplate is removed for easy installation. Im not planning on having like that when it´s done.

*edit*
Ah nvm. Misunderstood you. Thought you meant the backplate on the case.

I agree with you btw.

No no, i mean on graphics cards, not anything you have done.
Just a complaint on all cards.

You see this card here has a backplate and you can't see the PCB.
Looks nicer when installed.

I was just saying i think all cards should have a backplate like this.
I don't like seeing the PCB.

Hey, stop stealing my setup, that's pretty much what I am about to order Very Happy

Although, I am opting for NZXT's Phantom over the R3. Do Fractal deliver the R3 with more fans, or is it still just 2, like with the R2?

Looks very nice though Smile

you mean the cost of everything?

Around 1200 euro. Had to change PSU since my Corsair 650w only had two, 6pin pci-e connectors, i need 4 for SLI.

1200 euro and stock intel cooler for the win

srsly u could've used molex to 6 pin pcie connector, pretty sure 650w especially corsair can easily handle your setup

and yeah cases with below psu fitting are crap if u use oversized cooler or sli setup

I know that´s possible, not ideal, but possible. But since i hate Non-modular PSU´s, i figured its better to upgrade.

And yes, 1200 euro is a fair price were i live anyway.

Corsair HX 750W 80+ (modular)
2X Gigabyte GeForce GTX 460 1GB OC
Fractal Design Define R3, Svart
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4
Intel Core i5 760, 2.8GHz
2X Corsair 4GB (2x2048MB) 1600MHz XMS3
Arctic Cooling MX-3 Thermal Paste
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB (7200RPM / 32MB Cache / SATA II)

Are you high or something?

PSU in the bottom means it pulls cold air from the floor, and push out hot air in the back.

And what oversized cooler are you talking about? On the graphics card? I have the same amount of room between the cards, as i have between second card and the PSU. So an oversized cooler wouldn't work anyway in a SLI setup.

And since when did SLI interfere with a PSU?.

i've never said price is high, it would cost same here, u missed my sarcasm about using intel stock cooler while cashing out so much for the system and talking about changing thermal paste, like that will make any difference with a stock cooler Razz

srsly get yourself some decent cooling solution, h50 or similiar

psu at the bottom has less to nothing in pulling air out lol, unless fan on it operates at least @2.000rpm+ which in your case it isn't

Razz Sry

Anyway, In my first post i wrote about getting a H70 in the near future, so a new cooling system is already in ze progress.

About the PSU, it sounded like you complained about how PSU in the bottom will mess with ur SLI and all that, and my point was - it wont. I know it wont help get the air out of the case, thats why im gona order 2 140mm fans when i order the H70. 1 for the side, and 1 on the top sucking out air. Then one extra in the front sucking and fucking in cool air.

Im definitely not done with my system yet so to speak. Planning on making it "OC ready" .

I'm going to replace the 4 silent Fractal Design fans I have in my R3 with Noctua fans that push a lot more air. The Fractal fans are really quiet but they don't push much air around.

Love the R3 case though. Smile

I'm so jealous, fantastic rig you have there. Thanks for the pics! I'm sure it felt good to unpack everything and set it all up. My PC is ancient like a calculator in comparison to this.

Btw i need to order a H70 fast. Look at the CPU temps compared to GPU in idle.

Ye, funny story though. When I powered on the computer, i had no picture so i had to spend 1 hour on ze net to find a solution, then i called a friend who is kinda good at computers and he said as a joke.

- "maybe you just forgot to connect the DVI connector to your monitor Hahaha"......

And for some reason i checked and it Wasn't connected. I never unplugged it, so it must have disconnected somehow during the process. Afterwards it worked like a charm. Luckily it Wasn't the motherboard or something Laughing
