I just love my new comp!
It's not beast but I am amazed at it's performance
I've played AvP for 90 min (the thing finally dl'ed -.- 14 GB!! on a 1 MBit/s is a killer), and I expected that the gfx card will be damn hot. I look @ GPU-Z and the temp is 59°C! And I played on dx11 on very high @1680x1050.
Finally I have sth that is worth something.
And photoshop loading times is few sec. Not to mention I can finally watch blue ray
Just had to share my happiness atm... While it lasts Because when uni starts I recon the mood will drop exponentially

Oh how I wish that
There is only 1000€ that hangs over my shoulder if I should fail sth, so Ill have to bury myself under a ton of books this yr
But I'll enjoy the moment while it lasts

Well, nice. But, uhm, exactly WHAT did you invest in? |
Well in new comp ofc! And I can't wait to start doing some calculations and visualization for uni ^^

AMD Athlon II X3 435 @ stock speed (2.9 GHz)
ASRock M3A770DE
4GB DDR3 Corsair 2x CM3X2G1333C9 (1333MHz)
XFX ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB
Well Metro 2033 ran perfectly too only on high not very high on dx11.
But the point is I haven't had decent comp for 5 yrs! And now I'm really happy I have one. Oh the endless possibilities

Well I'm happy with it and that's all I need
The thing is it's not a 'beast' of a comp and it's preforming great ^^

Don't let the OCD geeks get to you, I had my 8800GT since 2008 and games still perform on it great, and I think it won't change until the current gen consoles die, I'm not particularly interested in having no less than 200FPS in crysis. anything beyond 30 FPS is good enough for me, and I can still play recent games on 1920x1080 smoothly

technically buying a pc so that you can play on a 'real' gaming system instead of a console IS an investment.. to your ability to remain a MAN dammit.

Yeah I do
I'm not using my PC only for gaming I think that I'll benefit from better computing power, especially for my uni usage ^^

I know what you're talking about, I'm almost in the same condition as you
Though I always try to reserve a huge part of my free time to gaming
