It's a dinosaur.
Prefetian, I loved these two games (second bioshock was garbage).
And, ok, I give up. Game's going to be a turf-out. It's easy to spit on something anyway you don't even know what it is.

Well, I liked them both as well....but I took them for what they were, which was dumbed down versions of their predecessors.
I'm not saying they were crap or bad, just worse than and not up to par on with what you got from the previous titles (just with better graphics this time around).

Another example: Crysis 2. Original was nothing special, but at least it had special graphics. Now its in New York with 2m view distance and now suit has functions combined (speed + power for example are now one power because switching from one to the other is too hard from the couch with the sexy controller ).

Well, that's been sort of the good thing about the Russian/Ukrainian developers; they created ambitious games for the PC. The bad thing was always the bugs, of course. Now it looks like that's changing though, with Metro2033 and apparently Stalker2 aiming for consoles. The bugs will probably be less numerous, but all the ambition and the things that made them stand out will be gone as well.

I was expecting STALKER 4, but it's good news anyway.

multiplatform technology doesn't mean the game will be multiplatform. They might just be using a core engine or something that is multiplatform.

Any word on the engine they're using? I know it was supposed to be running on CryEngine3, at least it was reported on some sites quite a while back..

Based on the announcement details it's some in-house developed engine for multi-platform use, likely X-Ray 2.0 I'd guess.

With multi platform games such as Deux Ex 2, Bioshock etc it's not that strange that people are cynical.. They're not even near the quality of how they were as PC-only games.
In this case it's much better to be cynical and just maybe have a pleasant surprise...

Finally! One thing that I never liked about STALKER was the fact that it wasn't NEXT-GEN.

Well at least if you ever get raped by a boar, you know things could be worse and you could be getting raped by a radioactive boar.
It would give the game title 'Stalker' a whole new meaning if they added this in the next game.

Stalker was a great game at its time; however now if this new version has no or only few improvements, other nex-gen games could kill it easily.

The amount of retardation this thread is mind boggling. Wait to we at least get some details and screen.
