Moderators, if this is in the wrong part of the forum, please feel free to move this post.

So, me and two friends are gonna be in Amsterdam next weekend, from Thursday morning to Monday evening to be precise. Of course we are gonna get baked a lot, but also we want to see some sights, maybe hit a club or two.

So this is where some of you come in, if you have any recommendations for us, some must see coffee shops, museums or general places, go ahead and post please.

We definately want to see the weed and the sex museum, maybe even Madame Tussauds if the budget allows.

Also, if there are any rock/rockabilly/country/bluegrass/ska/metal concerts in this timeframe in Amsterdam, we would also be interested. Basically, anything with guitar/bass and a fast beat, nothing goth/emo/techno/trance/electro though please. Of course we googled a bit, but searching for results in a specified timeframe is kind of hard. We found the Maloe Melo Blues and Rock Café which sounds pretty good and might check if out if there are no other recommendations.

Also, if someone lives there and wants to hang out and is not out to rape us, just send a PM my way.

Probably best to not venture into the eastern and western neighbourhoods, or you'll get mugged.

Are there any NL event websites that I could check out for concerts and such?

Rubbish! I lived in the west for 6 years and had no problems. Infact, I've spent a lot of time in all areas pof Amsterdam other than the Bijlmer and never had any problems at all.

Anyway, I'd imagine that as a tourist he'll be spending most or all of his time in the center where you're more likely to be mugged than anywhere else.

I'm not sure what type of music you're into but in terms of concerts, the only thing happening this weekend is Wu Tang Clan at the paradiso which is a GREAT venue. Probably one of the best venues you would ever set foot in.
