How is the review "shite" exactly? Its main points is to show how accurate (or not) the special edition is to the original, and they do just that. Those "bugs" that are non-existent is the whole point. They are not bugs, they are features of the original game, not brought here in this incarnation.
Obviously that review is from a point of view of someone who has lived Monkey Island 2 and is disappointed to see features that he liked (aka "bugs" Laughing) gone. Smile

I actually meant the actual bugs he is talking about, like the Audio Commentary icon making subtitles disappear... I have never missed any subtitles. Apart from those bugs, everything he says is true... they just won't bother most people as much as they bother him Smile So I wouldn't call it 'shite' either.

I'm mostly playing it for the audio commentary now to be honest... just as with the Monkey 1 SE, I'll play this exactly once, and when I need another Monkey Island shot in the future, I'll just start up Dosbox and play the actual originals.

id rather spend my money in new adventure games from developers that actually make new adventures , than spend it on a company that neglected adventure gaming for years making star wars stuff , and only take a risk now doing a ...... remake

Trouble is, there is only one company doing this successfully. Beggars can't be choosers.

Screw Dosbox, thats what Scumm is for. And i think i'll do the same. Play it once then forget about themI really like the old graphics.

I still play MI1&2, Day of the Tentacle (funniest game ever), Indiana Jones: Fate (now this is a hell of a game), Full throttle and Sam&Max Hit the road (second funniest game ever) regularly. I just wish i didn't remember everything... Sad

ScummVM is great, but since I play more old games than just the adventure games that ScummVM supports, I use Dosbox a lot anyway. I need my shots of nostalgia! Smile

Well bow before me my friend lol

Myself and a mate played just about every adventure game that came out on the atari st from space quests to the dig. i remember it being hard and sometimes frustrating esp in the nazi castle!

There was no Internet at the time. Only magazines would bring some clues.
Only once I used a clue from a magazine. I was becoming quite desperate with Dungeon Master's final "boss".
For me, Fate of Atlantis, was the finest point and click adventure. The most beautiful, Grim Fandango. The funniest was Day of Tentacle. The hardest was Woodruff and the Schnibble.

That's awesome game. It's also very non-linear experience. So many different ways to go through castle, for example.

Although I did played it with reloads. Dying is really common.

I preferred it much more then later Atlantis sequel, which seemed more linear and simple (with some exceptions).

I think the game is awesome. It really is a nice adventure. If you don't like then you're missing out.

You can choose resolution and Fullscreen or windowed mode inside the game from the game options in the menu.

now that i think about it removing the intro was pretty much the dumbest idea ever.

the one in the first SE was raping me with nostalgia and being brilliantly new at the same time.

they've been using the same actors since they started voicing MI so even if i'm thrilled or not i can't say i haven't grown accustomed to them.

For me, most of the voices were ok, exempt Captain Kate. She was really bad. Whoever did her voice doesn't know to act how to yell.

An update was released, the most important part of the changelog:
- Added intro and outro credits sequences to the Classic version

Didn't expect LucasArts to care that much about the game, very impressive.

Yes, I tried it and yes, it's classic only.
Porting the intro sequence to the modern version wouldn't make sense anyway since the people who are credited throughout it didn't make the modern version. I respect the decision to not include it in the remake, but it should have been in the classic version to begin with.

The updated files are Monkey2.exe and Patch.xwb along PatchCues.xsb both for the audio system (Music changes as per - http://store.steampowered.com/news/ changelog listed a bit down while the game data file of monkey2.pak wasn't updated so the scene must have already been there but skipped via the code in the exe since it wasn't remade for the revamped edition of the game but still there for the classical and now brought back. finished
i like the ballsy ending Smile
couldn't imagine modern games having anything light hearted like that

the SE art looks nice but here and there the original art looked prettier than the new
they could have just rescanned the original ink plates into the game at higher resolution and smooth it out
on one screen there were a few untouched pixels left from the original version visible under the airbrushed new version Razz

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/310843/monkey-island-special-edition-collection-announced/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-News-RSS

This is getting a bit out of hand. While I'm very happy that MI is getting attention and LucasArts publishes adventure games again, I still think it's ridiculous to re-re-release Monkey Island 2 one year after it was re-released.

How about an "Escape from Monkey Island" remake in 2D?
