..... that actually looks really good, too! It's only $15 until March 24th, which is pretty cool. If it's still that price when I get paid, I'll buy it (unless a rip appears before then)

Unfortunately from comments in the Steam forums and the article I posted above it seems the game is a bit buggy and very demanding (Perhaps even unoptimized?) so it might be a good idea to wait for a demo or a so called "steam rip" or similar release.
(Seems it's Steam only so I guess it'll either use the unpacker method or a custom installer, probably launches just fine via Rev loader but I haven't tried yet.)
EDIT: About to try though, game layout is exactly like Crysis (But 32-bit only) and funnily enough uses it's own AppId file.

Of course it's demanding, it's CryEngine. Notice the *cry*
Why would anyone (re)use that engine and not another one ?

The only downside to waiting for Steam-rip files... is that they almost never hit Usenet unless released by a proper group or individual. I fucking HATE trawling cs.rin.ru trying to get working DL links for the individual GCFs.
*sigh*

Well yeah but this game is a bit unique with it's use of the "CryEngine 2" as it's also coming out on consoles. (Might already be out?) so I'd guess it's not exactly using the full power of the engine.
EDIT: Game uses NCF files and is 900 MB.

Just a single NCF, mate? It doesn't require any other resources or assets?
Cool, thanks! I might take a look then. At least it would give me a reason to try out my new card.. as not really interested in reinstalling Crysis/Warhead.

Awesome, thanks! Now to just wait for rin.ru to update and I'll grab the actual game files and suss this loader stuff (It's been WAY too long since I messed with cracked Steam, so this whole "Rev" loader is new to me)

The multiplayer mod boasts customisable mechs, battlesuits, tanks and aircraft by the dozen for players to pilot in objective-based gameplay modes as well as arena duels, all rendered in lovely Cry-o-vision.

To be honest, I was more surprised by this;

MWLL had been granted a legal thumbs-up by then-license holder Microsoft and its release presumably signals a similar all-clear from the current holder Smith & Tinker--founded by Jordan Weisman, also co-founder of MechWarrior creator FASA--who is currently working on its own PC and Xbox 360 new MechWarrior with Piranha Games.

What's the customisation aspect like? Is it really MechWarrior depth or just some superfluous crap? I've not downloaded the mod, nor will I actually, since I don't have a legit key for Crysis and thus won't be able to play online.

Mechwarrior mod has been released. |
Aww cool! I've been meaning to have a reason to play Crysis, especially since Crysis 2 was coming up.
Can't wait to relive my days of mechwarrior 2 goodness.

The mod adds a bit of overlay via those shader instructions and using Enthusiast/V.High with some further tweaks (2048 shadow resolution, longer view distance for stuff, no streaming and some other things.) does affect framerate but it's still mostly around 20 or so which I find playable.
(Rygel Texture mod and high quality vegetation textures also help plus some other extras like high resolution nano suit.)
(And yeah most people would be fine with stock v.high/enthusiast at 30 - 40 FPS of preferring tweaking it to look similar but run better instead and yeah again 2048x2048 pixel shadows kinda hits performance but it does look great, been thinking of using SSAA tweaks as well though this will lower framerate to single digits unfortunately but understandable due to resolution increase.)
Nanosuit
http://crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4600&lim=0
(Lower quality but still good and customizable.)
http://crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4572&lim=0
(Default set and higher quality, link to forum thread contains a patched version that is even better, this one has some bugs when seen from third person or viewing other US nanosuited characters.)
http://crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4471&lim=0
(Vegetation texture improvement, new version should be out soon.)
http://crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4429&lim=0
(TOD tweaks, needs some SSAO adjustments for brightness and darkness to look correct.)
http://crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=4381&lim=10
(Used over the previous vegetation texture to improve tree trunks a bit, need to remove the palm leaf textures from archive to avoid overwriting that one since these are lower res.)
http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=26547&threadview=0&hilight=&hilightuser=0&page=5
(Texture update, full pack is on Piratebay but can be hard to find, need to delete a .dds from archive 1 as it's corrupt, instructions are in the above thread, page 2 or so I think.)
EDIT: Just to be clear the mod itself does not affect framerate all that much and it works better in Wars/Warhead than Crysis due to shader updates.
(Other tweaks on the forums involve stuff like http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=62837 or http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=60792 , http://crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=61337 )
EDIT:
