You need to have WADManager. You won't be able to install WADManager as a channel until you've used the standard DOL first (to actually install the WADManager channel WAD Razz) So download WADManager, extract it to the apps folder on your SD card, run it via Homebrew Channel. You can then install your VC/DLC using that or, if you feel like it, install the WADManager Channel for future use.

Basically;

1. Download and setup WADManager. Here
2. Launch it from Homebrew Channel.
2a. (Optional but recommended if you don't want to waste time loading HBC all the time) Launch it from HBC and install WADManager 1.5 Channel. Here
3. Install VC/WiiWare/DLC.

I wish I can install VC/DLC games to my external harddrive. Installing wad games to the system is so limited. I have no more space. Why hasnt any group released an app to install onto HD instead?

You can =)

Route A. Install to System, go into Data\Folders and choose "Move to SD" - freeing up space on the system and using the SD card instead. This is the option I choose.
Route B. Install a NAND Emulator.

Et voila. You either have infinite amount of installation space via SD card, though annoying installs as you have to install to system and then transfer to SD ... or you have infinite amount of installation space via NAND backup on an xxxxxGB partition device Wink

Unless you've set your external HDD to WBFS only (ie; no separate partitions) then you only need up to Step3 on that guide I posted. Just create a 10 or 20 or whateverGB size FAT32 partition and have fun!

So, there still is no method to install onto a Hard Drive (Not SD card), right?

I have a 1TB HD which actually I almost filled up,,heheh..but it would be so much easier if I can just slap them onto there.

Ill prob. try your SD card method if I get around to it. I still cant understand that I can easily install $40+ games onto a HD, but the $10 games I cant. Makes no sense.

You need a certain cIOS249 mate. Certain "base" 249s don't have the ability to install WADs and give you the 1029 error.

Code:

IOS202[60]-v65535 (v5 of Hermes cIOS) = USB2.0 for MPlayer, WiiXplorer and stuff
IOS222[38]-v65535 (v5 of Hermes cIOS) = Stable IOS with the ability to install Wads
IOS223[37]-v65535 (v5 of Hermes cIOS) = For use with Music Games with USB devices like Rock Band, Guitar Hero...
IOS224[57]-v65535 (v5 of Hermes cIOS) = Better speed for USB loading. However, some Games might not work

IOS249[57]-v19 (rev19 of Waninkokos cIOS) = Recommend by Waninkoko. Improves speed for USB loading. However, some Games might not work.
IOS250[38]-v65535 (rev19 of Waninkokos cIOS) = Stable IOS with the ability to install Wads

I don't even use 249 for installing WADs anymore. I prefer 249 for USB access and speed, with 250 for WADs.

That will give you all the best overall cIOS setup and you then install WADS using 250 instead of 249. You won't lose a single bit of functionality by doing this, you will only GAIN - it just means remembering to switch from 249 to 250 when WADManager asks which IOS to use. All win, no lose =)

As I said; you CAN. You just need to create a NAND dump, drop it to a partition on your HDD and then setup NAND emulation. It's finicky, but follow my earlier link and you can do it just fine.
