There is a big sociological problem with this because children have an inherent desire to imitate grownups. The sexualisation of children as you describe it is a reflexion of society in it's entirety, as it has become more sexualized; so also have children become such. Usually the drive to imitate grownups come from a very important human drive, the one that make us social creatures, this force should not be underestimated or trivialized, our drive to assimilate our surroundings have made us alive as a species and attempting to countermand it through norms will lead to a lot of issues.
Usually we try and blame parents for this, but children behave in this fashion regardless of what parents say or do. We as a species are bound by sociality and the way we are will always reflect this. I can exemplify this from many observations in young children, where for instance one family had issues with all the images of their 9-year old daughter resembled images represented by females in the model industry or in magazines. They tried to ban her from doing this which ultimately led to depression/anxiety and a feeling of separation/identity problems.
This makes it difficult for many parents, as they do not want to have their children depressed... but as it is, the effects are similar even if their kids are allowed these type of activities - especially in reproduced ideals for the two sexes, and many not being able to live up to them. Especially among young women this become an issue (and can lead to self-mutilation in extreme cases).
But you have to look at it from several perspectives, this was an initiative from these girls. I am positive that the grownups did not encourage them in any other way than what parents loving their children do, when they pursue something they really want to do. Parenting is not an easy feat, and cannot be approached by absolute boundries or norms, you have to look at the bigger picture and also take into account what makes a child happy, sometimes this deviate from societal norms (as in this case). It gets quite complicated in the pragmatic world where we cannot look from a distance and be judges of morality.

that said, they were pretty damn good for their age (dancing wise), and if they hadn't been dressed like sluts then i would probably have shared this on facebook!
No surprise here. In the age of Aguilera, Spears and Lady Gaga, where less clothes sell more records, and whose biggest fan base are little girls that simply emulate their idols, this is what we can expect. It's sad, but not much we can do about it since idiot parents think it's okay for some idiotic reason.
Very good...but why any parent thinks they need to dress their children like that when they are clearly impressive dancers confuses me..The image part shouldn't come into it unless you like that kinda stuff...Mind boggles
