Activate lift. Run to ladders on bundle of logs.

don't you mean activate lift, move platform between the bundles of logs, then climb ladder and cross?

Just finished it. Must say it was a good game, my only complaints is the lack of different enemies and predictible gameplay.
Edit: Ohh and some of the game's sountrack is awesome. Poets of the fall - war <3

I finished episode 5 last night and so far I like it. The low resolution looks very bad in well lit scenes but is barely noticeable in the dark. Gameplay is just what you should expect from the Max Payne developers: linear, predictable and not innovative, but very solid. It has no highs but no lows either. They just replaced "bullet-time, shoot, bullet-time, shoot,..." with "flashlight, shoot, flashlight, shoot,...".
Just like May Payne, you don't play it for the gameplay but for the atmosphere and it is spot on. The forest feels great and the storytelling so far is superb. The characters are believable and some of the NPC dialog you can catch on the way is hilarious, although there is less such dialog than in MP since your enemies can't talk.
Overall it feels just like the spiritual successor to Max Payne.

Yup. Anybody who says this looks like a PS2 game really should go and get their eyes checked. Sure, the resolution is quite low and there is some tearing. But seriously, I don't know a single PS2 game with such lighting effects or moving trees/bushes/grass. Even GoW2 (probably best looking PS2 game out there) doesn't come close.

ffs, give the graphics whining a rest why not?
It's an awesome experience, with incredible atmosphere and amazing game play.
For a game who's engine was designed five years ago its an astonishing achievement.

you can clearly see it's running @ 576p but who gives a shit if we haven't seen such atmosphere and detalization ever? I mean every spoon @ the diner is modeled and you only see it for 10 mins max. Jesus, that's what I call attention to details.
last time I was amazed like that it's when I've seen the guinea pigs hopping around in MGS4

The low resolution textures, lack of any normal/specular maps on trolley and highly low-poly meshes cannot be altered by jpeg compression or framebuffer resolution.

I personally have to take back what I said the previous page (when I hadn't played yet) because graphics in this game are simply marvelous. Of course, if you look hard enough you'll see it's missing 1080p resolution, but if they lowered the resolution to be able to add more effects that's even better. What do you think? It's way harder to do it this way for programmers. The amount of visuals detail (winds, black storm, moving tree, lights) it's overwhelming. The geometry is more detailed than most games too, with full city parts up to the small objects.
The game itself is rather good too. Every immersion part, animation, story, cinematics. Only problem I have is that I just finished chapter3 and I killed over 300 guys with the flashlight, this part is boring as hell, will another type of enemy appear at some point?

jmdeking : you don't know shit, as I said, 6years of development permitted to have all these visual effects, the xbox couldn't handle it and they lowered the resolution. They could simply cut a few years and set the resolution to 1080p, but it wouldn't have looked that good.

one more time. Run, flash light, shoot and repeat. Max score imo 4/10. (the only good point is the story)

Doesnt change my opinion about the graphics, i think it looks mediocre at best, but like others say its more about the story than about the graphics (and gameplay) imo.
