Just yesterday I had a little discussion with a macfag about how great the cooling system on macbooks is supposed to be. He was shocked when I claimed that apple intentionally keeps the fans too low and accepts high temperatures to create an illusion that macbooks produce less fan noise because of their "superior cooling system".
Maybe this will change once they begin using ARM cpus, of course that would mean that everybody developing applications for their platform would have to rewrite them to a different architecture - again. It will happen nonetheless.

Does ARM offer anything that compares to a i7-620? You can also get less heat by replacing it with a low-end i3.
The point is that my i7-720 based notebook (720=4 cores, 45W TDP; 620=2 cores, 35W TDP) which is only 15" (not 17" like the linked macbook) should perform way worse on said benchmark since the processor produces more heat and the body is smaller. Still, by running two consecutive Cinebench tests I only managed to push the CPU temp to 82°c.
100°c with 35W CPU and 17" body is EPIC FAIL, simple as that.

Heh, it really makes little sense for them to go back to a RISC based architecture so soon, and makes the previous transition seem apparently pointless. The whole point of the transition was the lackluster performance of the RISC-based PowerPC, and if we take into consideration the ARM's only redeeming point is its low power consumption, I really don't see the point. Indeed, a simple comparison between an ARM CPU and x86 Atom and Nano CPUs shows how useless the ARM really is. Perhaps it is acceptable in mobile devices world, but hardly for normal computing.
But if this switch indeed happens, I'd love to see silly fanboys defend it.
i dislike apple for not giving you straight answers , you buy a iphone and think its yours but the you realize then most common things are missing, so you are forced to buy them for 1-2$ and then your paying for Internet, then the cost for owning something , soon you realize that the full price and the hidden costs aren't worth the phone but wait your stuck with it ... fucking phone contract fee
no i don't own one but had a fiend that wanted bling so he bought it and now he suffers
