Ok, contraversial topic title.

Anyway, I just got back from skiing in Andorra, and thought i'd share a pic i've been touching up.

(it's actually my pic)

Let it load (it's pretty big).

I kinda like the fence. The bloom effect was produced by bluring a duplicate layer, then reducing the opacity of that layer, before overlaying them. I agree the bloom is pretty high, but without doing the above the photo just looked shit. Apparently it's a common technique (i'm still learning).

Also, not really got that many other pics, apart from a similar one without the fence (may do that one tomorrow).

Why did you modify the contrast? I find the original one to be better. Smile
The only touch ups I see are removing some heads and the fence, otherwise original picture is good.

I wanted to give the picture more depth. And I played around with the levels to have a better blue distribution around the clouds and a dark green for the mountains. In the end I added some chromatic aberration to imitate the thick and curved glass of an expensive lens.

In the end I'm no photographer nor someone who understands a lot about the processes that happens in the human brain to find a picture good or bad Sad I just try to play around with it until it looks right for me Smile

that bloom though on his firs post is too much, normaly ski shots of such nice sunny day mountains produce its own reflection of sun glare off the slopes/tops etc.. pumpy's edit may have a bit of rough adjustments but the overal look is better on the eyes, and nicer overall..

Also pump, I do like your pic but I feel the loss of detail on the mountains, and the grainy sky are still annoying. Anyway, how'd you do it? I need some PS tips Very Happy

I agree my bloom is wayyy to much though, however I kinda like it.

And i didn't adjust the contrast on mine - i just used my earlier described technique.
