  • Producing company: ABC Studios
  • Director: Jonathan Brough
  • Pictures: TV.com

  • IMDB page: IMDB

  • Main actors:
    Quote:

Craig Horner - Richard Cypher/The Seeker
Bruce Spence - Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander
    Bridget Regan - Kahlan Amnell
    Richard Lambeth - Lieutenant Theron
    Patrick Kake - Commander Erryll
    Matthew Saville - Captain Flynne
    Nathan Meister - Marius
    Carl Bland - King Gregor
    Beatrice Joblin - Corah
    Candace McNabb - Helena
    Dayna Chiplin - Queen
    Reuben de Jong - Calthrop
    Mick Innes - Duncan
    Danielle Cormack - Shota

    ---------------------------

Did both a manual and normal search for this but found no previous threads about this series even though it's half a year old. Just watched the first two episodes and I suppose it's fairly decent. There's been heaps of movies just like it but not really any series. The first episode is so terribly chlichéd I don't know whether I should laugh or cry but at the same time I am intrigued. The actors are good enough, the CGI isn't terrible and it has the making of a pretty good series.

The books are hackneyed and unimaginative, I wouldn't expect any less from their live action counterparts.

well good to se someone try a fantasy show that isnt 100% lame, well this is pretty lame, but i really like the fight scenes (except the 300 style slow mo, bleh). the fight scenes ocasionally seem like the actors are really trying to fuck each other up and is much more passionate... so yea, thats all i like about the show, oh and Bridget Regan... freaking hawt.

Yep, bad show with only some references to the books. Alot has changed. The writer also said it was bad, after agreeing to a show and getting his money of course.

Yeah I actually kept dragging on for seven episodes due to general boredom and cause it was raining like crazy Razz

This is just.. bad. Which sort of is a shame cause if they just had a decent script I wouldn't at all mind a fantasy series, haven't really been any good ones afaik. The actors are mostly good too but they just got a bum rap with this piece of shit writing. The script in this just feels like something out of a videogame you know? And a rather cheesy videogame at that. The clichés and unimaginative sidestories just make for a terrible thing to watch.

And it's sort of lol that they've actually aimed for an older audience, or at least I think they did, seeing how it's pretty dark at times and have bdsm mistresses and shit. So they've sort of painted themselves into a corner cause it's not something ten year olds should watch and it's not something people older than that will want to watch Razz

Saw the first three episodes and this is actually worse than Xena. Because they try to be serious, but with actors that are about as talented at acting as carnies on Circus. Seriously, who the fuck cast these idiots? That person shouldn't have that job, he should be flipping burgers at Mickey Dee's.

And the script is horrendous, who wrote the dialogue? George W. Bush?

I also think fisk should be unbanned.

they have that bsdm mistress cause its in the books.
Its pretty stupid, ive read the series and cant get my head around to why they arent following the story. It would be awesome if they would.
Richard is bad casting, Kalahan as well and its not even correct. She is the confession mother from the start of the books, she doesnt become it, especially not in such a dumb way
Zoranders character however i really love.

I like the books so thats why i don't like the series. I knew they wouldn't follow the books word for word (they explained that when they started talking about the series). But i honestly didn't think they were going for another Hercules/Xena type of deal, i was very very dissapointed by this series.

I mean they don't even try to follow the books. Perhaps it's just because it's been a while since i've read the books (5+ years, and no i haven't finished reading the entire series) But other than the first ep i don't really recognize the story-line at all (the red line that modern tv series usually has). The thing where he was captured and tortured happened in the books but different and better (again as i remember it).

I watch it for that chick that plays whatshername, Kahlan? Something like that. Every episode they have a scene where she is running in slow motion with her breasts bouncing. I think they just created a "plot" and hired some other actors to give her breasts an opportunity to bounce in bullet-time because, well, tits.

Wow I watched a few episodes...and....ugh.. jesus christ what have they done!

I love the books, they're awesome, and this could have been great too if they just stayed true to the books.
They changed so much shit and I just don't see the reasons for it. It's like they're messing everything up just because they can.

I understand some sacrifices have to be made to allow a smooth transfer from a book to an episodic format, but still, they've just went way way too far.

 Spoiler:

Damn.. I really tried to like it and told myself to just see them as 2 different interpretations but I just can't do it. It's so bad that it makes me cry inside because the books deserved so much more...
This is an abomination and I hope we'll get a real movie/series versions of the sword of truth series some day.. maybe in 30 years or something.

Yeah, they basically changed important background details because they could. I haven't even watched the latest season yet, and frankly, may never watch it.

I especially love Zed. In the books this dude was basically the most powerful good wizard on the planet and knew fucking everything. In the TV show he only knows like three useless spells and gets captured by noob wizards / foiled by potions ...

I guess I don't understand TV like this. The books told the story of a bunch of badasses doing badass shit. The TV show tells a disconnected story of a Kahlan's breasts and stupid old men, with Richard thinking "I want dem titties!" but he can't get 'em because he'll get turned into a giant muppet if he fucks her.

To hell with that, I'd hit it anyway.

I don't think so. But I've only seen the first two episodes of the 2nd season. I intend to watch the others at some point. Might be tolerable if I ignore the books.
