An Education: 7/10 - she was fucking hot. The closing line really pissed me off though - shitty way to end a film. That said, she was fucking hot!

About to watch this one. Very interesting "hook" to it.

http://us.imdb.com/title/tt1390403/

Cut

Five friends return from a cocktail party to a cottage deep inside the English woods of the Peak District. Having brushed off the notion of urban legends as rubbish, never occurring in reality, our protagonist's slowly find themselves weaving through their very own horror story.

The "hook" is the fact that the entire movie is filmed in one looooooong shot.

Well, that was weird.

Superb film. Absolutely.

Weird but wonderful, and one of those movies that never explains its ending but the meaning behind the ending itself is there if you re-watch. Very unusual and rare find!

Un Prophète 9/10 - Very good french coming-of-age prison drama that let's the viewers come to their own conclusion about the characters' motives and thoughts behind their actions - without spoon feeding the audience like most mainstream american movies would do.

The Alamo - 6/10

Historical inaccuracies aside, this was probably the most subdued look at the battle in a long time. Not much lionising here except for the ending which looked like it was added as an after-thought for the sake of having a happy ending. The movie was about The Alamo and should have ended with its fall. Billy Bob stood out from an otherwise uninspired bunch of actors.

Daybreakers - 5/10

Interesting concept but the execution was lacking. Willem Dafoe's accent was the first thing they should have put a stake through. Hawke was a bad casting choice not because he was bad but because he made the movie feel a lot like Gattaca. Some major plot holes like a vampire being able to walk in daylight under a tree! Exploding vampires wtf? The action in this movie was not what you would expect from a vampire movie. That's why Blade rules!

Alice in Wonderland - 5/10

Watchable movie i guess but i found it sort of bland. Depp ruined the movie for me.

It's soooo bad but I love Tim Roth and back when i was like 12-13 I had a huuuuge crush on Kelli Williams(who plays the female lead Gillian Foster)...lets just say before access to porn we had to imagine things. Well she was very easy to imagine things 'with' Very Happy In other words I love the show, I know its terrible Very Happy

I don't think it's terrible. The only thing that I dislike is that they exaggerate all the mimic stuff. And that I am able to solve the cases before they do Laughing

Renner can't act for SHIT! The black guy in Hurt Locker was a lot better IMO. Still, it does not deserve oscars FFS! Neither does Avatar.
I would go with District 9, i guess.

Just watched 1x01 at your recommendation. It was pretty good, although reminded me of House alot (rip off?). I suspect it's going to follow nearly exactly the same pattern ep after ep, and thus i'll get bored after 5 eps (just like what happened with house).

Still, i'll keep watching for the time being - certainly interesting enough!

Well... I must admit that I lost interest after the 3rd episode. It seems to be the same each and every episode. In House there are at least likeable characters that improve and change throughout the seasons.
