I'm an Israeli who remembers how fast and effective France was when giving all its jewish citizens to the nazis.

total casualties across both military and civilians
compared to the battle of the somme in ww1 where we lost 60000 in the first day and an approximate total of 420000, thats just one battle, we lost over 1,000,000 in that war.

You also shouldn't post death statistics, because that will just give the Yanks more ammo; "LULZ!! See? U Brits suk! U lost moar soldierz than uz cuz were the bestestest!!111"
yeah that was a duck shoot, and rather pathetic strategy if u ask me... if they could bring in such small landing craft from a mile back or so why not use some small pounder guns offshore and hit those mg nests while the troops land.,
as far as i remember they only fired the big ships guns before they landed LOL, that meant the gerries just refilled the nests and bunkers with fresh people and waited again for them to dissembark..
they were worries about hitting the beaches with shells while men were moving up.. hmm well dont hit the fucking beaches then just hit the gaps in the bunkers where the guns point out.. would at least make them duck more often and shoot less == less dead on the beach for no good reason..

what's wrong about yanks thinking they've won the war? Yanks, Brits and Russians all have the right to think they've won the war, because they did.
And what that guy said, that without USA, things would've looked different for Europe isn't so far fetched.
The Americans put an effort into fighting against Germany, even though unlike the Russians and Brits, they weren't directly threatened by it. They could just fight their own war against the japs, but chose not to since it was obvious that without their effort, the nazis wont be beaten in Europe.

everyone won the war due to union to be fair
but there's no reason to hate USA and deny its important efforts in the war
casualties mean nothing, victories do however
and yes without US help Europe would have been a different place now

Not narrow minded. Thats just the way it works. Each country to its own. And while we're at it, no one mentions the Australians, New Zealanders, and Canadians who gave a good account of themselves, as well as the British Gurkhas, free French, and Polish paratroop brigades.

You make it sound like it was easy to aim battleship guns and artillery in 1944...
