IMO, idiotic. I don't drink to taste the alcohol itself (unless it's a good Scotch) but TO get wasted/a little drunk. It's like inventing a sugar that isn't sweet.

And if you read the article, it basically explains that with the oxygenated beer; you sober up 20% faster - which means you can go to bed without feeling completely bladdered, thus negating the morning hangover.

Impressive stuff!

the tagline from the article alone is pure bullshit. sobering up a bit faster != no hangover

might as well improve the ventilation systems in clubs or simply have a drink outside Laughing
and while extra oxygen might alleviate a hangover a bit, the main reason besides other chemicals in drinks is still dehydration. so what will those brilliant scientists think of next? adding water to alcohol? Cool Face

Booze, for all its magical wonder, still has big drawbacks: You can't sober up quickly, and you often get a hangover. Now Korean researchers have found a way of tweaking booze to limit the fallout — without cutting its strength.
Not sure if this a good or bad thing, but I want some. Smile

Not a good thing.
Alcoholism would multiply x10.
Now if they make alcohol that doesn't damage the body, liver etc Very Happy

That's a pretty teeny (or alcoholistic) outlook on alcohol.

Personally I love the taste of single malt scotch, certain red wines, ales etc..

Actually that's a bad advice. While you drink your liver has to constantly filter out the alcohol, which is in it's chemical form a toxin to us (excessive amounts of ethanol will kil you, little amounts of methanol will blind you or kill you etc.). So by taking aspirin you are burdening your liver even more. Now the liver needs to process the alcohol and aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid, or paracetamol +' add-ons').

The better and effective solution is that you drink a lots of water before you go to bed, and in the morning you take ibuprofen. It does the trick for me Smile

A hangover when I was a kid was the only thing stopping me from going out and get wasted the next day. I'm sure if I didn't have hangovers I would be even more of a heavy drinker.

although this is good advice it's slightly off ... it is indeed a bad idea to take paracetamol, but this is tylenol/acetaminophen not aspirin. aspirin + alcohol can cause stomach bleeding though.

Quote:
Acute overdoses of paracetamol can cause potentially fatal liver damage and, in rare individuals, a normal dose can do the same; the risk is heightened by alcohol consumption. Paracetamol toxicity is the foremost cause of acute liver failure in the Western world, and accounts for most drug overdoses in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand

hangover is mainly caused by dehydration and low sugar level in blood
so best thing to do next morning is to consume some sports drink

Eating something meaty(big burger, kebab etc) before going to bed works beautifully for me.

Haha any thread about hangovers is destined to end up full of people talking about cures. It's like a mini Godwin's law. Smile

I use Plivadon, it has:
210 mg paracetamol, 250 mg propifenazone, 10 mg codeine phosphate hemihydrate, 25 mg caffeine.

I like it because it's fast, unlike ibuprofen that takes hours to have any kind of effect...
