it's a social network version of RSS. Or an internet version of sms, but with more spam?
Basically it is short messages send to numerous people who have subscribed to your account.
But i guess if people play stuff like mafia wars on facebook, something like twitter is also something we have to accept as a reality  |

I really hate those things ...
But i have a big laugh when i hear somebody uses that shit and gets sacked because he called in sick but his twitter was telling something else 
I recently also heard that about 80 percent of the employers check facebook or whatever to check their new staff ... brilliant. But that's one of the reasons i'm not into that crap.

I took a look into twitter briefly. Its a great tool for being on-point with news. Ideal for news reporters, journalists and bloggers. In fact those tend to be the largest userbase.. bloggers. Although that and a huge amount of teenagers chatting shit.
Its good for business networking and world wide news in seconds. I see no other use for it really.
