Im going to visit a friend in london soon and I need help figuring out which travel card thingy I need.

I will be arriving in gatwick friday morning and need to buy a ticket from gatwick to London Bridge. I assume I can buy this at the ticket office at the airport.

Then I need a way to travel around london friday, saturday, sunday and monday too and I don't know what kind of card I need and I am hoping you can help me.. I will only be travelling in zone 1 and 2. So what is my best option? Travel card, oyster card? Something else?

Monday evening I need to get back to gatwick and again I assume I can just go to london bridge and buy a ticket there.

Getting from Gatwick couldn't be easier. Just buy a ticket into London - either a single or if you plan to travel around London more that day, then buy a travel card (zones 1-2).

For the other days, it really depends on how many trains / buses you are going to get. Oyster card prices are quite a bit cheaper, however the cost of the card is £10 so it depends if you'll make enough trips to warrant the savings. Oyster card is certainly easier, and using it on buses / the tube you will only ever pay the maximum you needed to ... aka if you travel lots it will charge you for the price of a travel card. If you travel lots in zones 1-2 then it will only charge you for a zones 1-2 travel card.

That said, if you don't want the initial £10 outlay, then a zones 1-2 travelcard each day will do the job.

And yes- London Bridge to Gatwick is on the First Capital Connect line, and you can get a ticket at London Bridge no problems.

Funny, I work at St Pauls (City Thameslink), which is one stop from London Bridge! Have a lovely trip!
