I installed a new cooler(Arctic Silencer Accelero S1rev2) a while back. It was going over 100C under load so it was a necessary step. With new cooler it showed 40C idle so i was happy. Didn't even bother to look the load temps. I overclocked it a bit and everything worked fine until now. I get artifacts in WoW all the time now. So I checked the temps and it shows 40-41C even under load. Did I connect something wrong when I installed the new cooler? I tried removing OC, but I still get artifacts. Anyone have an idea why?

It seems that you have broken it by overclocking if you get artifacts even without the OC settings :<

If you are using Evga precision for temperatures... Sometimes the sensor files can get corrupted, dont remember how t fix it.. But that happened for me once, could not read temps properly from precision, some registry fix worked. Also have you tried reinstall drivers since you have artifacts only in WoW?. Also give the card some spanking from Furmark to see if its stable.

The problem sounds driver related, I just decided to start playing Company of Heroes again and and using the latest Windows 7 64-bit drivers and during every cut scene I am getting artifacts.
Try installing older Forcewares!

i installed new beta drivers now. Did the furmark test and it got my card to 54C in about 300 sec. That's enough proof for me that the cooler is just doing a damned good job when i have 41C when playing WoW . Cant try wow since i got no gametime atm, but I'm a bit relieved at least and hope new drivers work better.

I already own a super clocked edition I'm not sure if OC'ing is even necessary for me...
Besides the cooler really sucks my card gets pretty hot but it still works great...

The single slot cooler gets up to about 70C when doing DOW2 (that game really heats shit up) but turning up the fan to about 60% (just to where I can start hearing it spin up) it keeps it 62ish

Single-slot = Bad.
Christ, my 4850 used to roast itself whenever I played a high-end game without cranking the fan up to painful levels. Idle was often 65c and load sometimes hit 85c.

@sabin
I think my card is probably about that 24/7 whenever I open my case I have a habit of touching shit just to see how hot it is - I swear I could cook an egg on my vcard lol

Aye, lol, I used to burn my finger by touching the copper sink on my old 4850. Sapphire fucked up by only adding a single-slot cooler to it (they later remedied that with a new revision, but by then I'd sold my 4850 and got an XFX 4870-1G XXX)
