Would recommend a Linksys router to anyone.

Linksys WRT54G - Picked one up new for $25 few months ago. This was the original model.Best router..Make sure the router you get runs DD-WRT. G rated is all you need. Got mine in bridge mode linked to a Netgear N router. Rock solid. Never disconnects.

Yeah, wouldn't go with any of the G or B routers these days (I use WRT54GL, but I bought it a year and a half ago). There are now N routers which are the ones you should be looking at. Make sure the one you get supports Linux firmware.

Sign up to AOL, cancel after receiving your router. FREE. ...... done it loads of times, you don't have to send it back.

Would like to thank you for Tomato recommendation. Been using DD-WRT for so long, this is like light and day in the QoS department. <3

WRT54G is a damn fine one indeed, used one for nearly 6 years. Now using a Belkin N+, which has one of the fastest wireless throughputs out there right now. Had to get rid of the WRT54G because it wouldn't have been able to handle my new internet connection
If you don't need Gigabit or Wireless-N like I do, I'd still recommend the WRT54G. Stable as hell, easy to use, and pretty darn cheap nowadays

The biggest issue I see now with a G or B router is the inability to stream an 1080p file properly. 720p is fine, but a 1080p shows issues.

True, but that's if you use wireless; dunno if he's looking for wireless though?
