Yeah, both good qualities to have as a tattooist... The poor guy who tattooed "Stan's Slave" instead of "Satan's Slave" to that biker's back was never heard from again.

Tattooists usually ask you to write down any text you want done.

If you're good at drawing, deelix, go for it. Get some pigskin to practise on.

Laughing

I know a few people who have bought something like that and have worked as apprentices at a tattoo shop.

People line up to be used as guinea pigs for free tattoos.

not at all, the tattoo is offered for free and your free to have it touched up later. I helped an apprentice out here in such a way, told a bunch of friends about him and they went in and got a free tattoo.

The one on my neck was his practice tattoo

After he got his shit down and was able to do his shadings better etc, those who let him practice on them were offered a free tattoo

which is where that one came from.

Pigskin is good n all but doesn't compare to a person sitting there, breathing, moving, talking etc. Human skin is better, the person is fully aware of what there getting into so there ready for something that will need to be touched up later.

They won't offer some massive tattoo for practice or anything but simple little tribals n shit.

yeah, but its such a commitment. If I ever found out I wanted a tattoo id go to a professional.
but yeah a pretty great deal for those guys who collect tattoos (who aren't perfectionists either..)^^

And about your tattoo done by an apprentice; thats a win-win situation for both Smile
He earned more doing it for free, no doubt about that. Good PR probably has lots to say in the tattoo business.

I don't think they let apprentices practice on humans in Norway, but not 100% sure.

oh I know, was just saying how long you have to wait just to get a tattoo from the guy Smile

Such detail can be done in 1 session, it depends on the persons pain tolerance.

http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1113941#1113941

That was about 4 1/2 hours worth of work. I did 3 hours straight the first session before I had to call it quits cause she started hitting the ouchy spots.

That one on my back is about 10 hours worth of work broken up into 3 sessions.

Pain tolerance? Guess it really depends where you take it then, all my friends with tattoos say its not painful at all :/

That really depends on where the needling is being done, the more secondary dermis and adipose tissue in the area the less painful it will be. For example, the elbow and upper neck are supposed to be extremely painful.

tattoos aren't as much about "pain" but about "exhaustion" (from the little pain) thats why usually they don't do more than 2-4 hours in one sitting.

That aside, nobody starts a perfect tattoo artist, so go try it
