for back to back you need at least two seasons right? And may is when the new season of family guy comes out...
this is first american dad season so you will have seven eps and then wait for viewer feedback. If it's positive then it will see season 2 if not then no

I found the alien to be completely stupid, and provided no entertainment.
the fish was also incredibly corny, it was funny for about 10 seconds.
the dad is by far the best character.

I think the show is funny but it is essentially a Family Guy clone. I know the characters are different blah blah but the effort they put into making this show could have been put into making more Family Guy eps. 
At least when Matt Groening made Futurama it was something different from the Simpsons. Plus, knowing FOX's past with randomly canceling popular shows and the fact that Family Guy is so much better (so far the characters are more likable and whatnot) I bet American Dad will be canceled in no time.

family guy got canned cause no one watched it
you had 24
american idol
and simposns
fox had a fucked schedule
family guy kept getting shifted and no one knew when it was on
so not many people watched it
not enough to give it high ratings
it got sales from the dvds and shit so family guy was back being a member of the fox family

I don't think Fox cares if one of their shows makes fun of them. Simpsons do it all the time. Then again it can get away with it cause it's Fox's biggest show.
