This works properly and is not a crack as such as well as being really beneficial to people with low speed or dial-up internet. If it does not work for you, you have probably done something wrong.
DL Steam, set it up as another different named account for yourself, proceed to DL: L4D2 Demo, early on into the demo download when the Client.dll file (unique to your system) is complete-6.46mb in the second bin folder, copy that file to a safe place on your computer, then discontinue the demo DL.
Make steam go into offline mode before you close it.
Either extract the razor release WITHOUT the razor update applied afterward, or extract the .sid files from a retail L4D2 DVD (which I own and did anyhow), or source the files you need from the net. After the extraction you will end up with an original unmodified or cracked Left 4 Dead 2 folder, move that to the same directory of Steam where the partial L4D2 demo folder is eg: Steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2 demo.
Besides your unique Client.dll file you saved earlier you will need a small program called steamup, google it and you will find it, and if you want to play multi you will need garena which you will also find via google as well as this added to your shortcut: +sv_lan 1 +sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0
Once you have what you need, go to Steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2 /left4dead2/bin folder and copy your unique Client.dll file to that bin folder.
Extract the files from steamup,
1: copy the server.dll to Steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2/bin folder.
2: copy Launcher.exe, SteamUp.dll, and SteamUp.ini to the Main steam directory.
3: Make a shortcut to launcher.exe on your desktop.
Open Steam via the launcher shortcut, if steam want's to update, don't allow it because you do not want to go back online anyhow. Check the games page of your client, you will see a huge list. Tell steam you want to play a NON-STEAM game and point it to where you put the files as above eg: Steam/steamapps/common/left 4 dead 2/left4dead2.exe
Even though I don't like mindless shooters (the chainsaw was fun though), I played this through in SP with out any problems, or date changes or registry additions etc etc.
Cheers

All you need is to extract it and run with a crack or stryder's loader. (steam underground community)

Lol, forgot to write in this topic.
Anyway, I bought this game. I play a hell out of it, what surprises me is how different it plays than L4D 1.
For instance, the most effective technique in L4D 1 was just sit in a corner when the horde came and shoot with shotguns, but in L4D2 because of introducing the Charger and Spitter this is simply impossible, you have to be constantly moving to succeed. Melee weapons are awesome too, nothing is better than slicing zombie's stomach off and seeing him drag his gut behind him.
Also, I played Save the Boomer yesterday, a lot of laughs. Here's how it works(1:15 of the video):
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/left-4-hawp/59506
The only change we made is that Boomer had 3 "lives".

Here you can find all Left 4 Dead 1 Maps fitted for Left 4 dead 2, including new Weapons and Special Infected from L4D², also included the CS:S Weapons, that where only available for German Cut Version.

so since there's no real scene release out there what's the best way to get this running(aside from buying of course)?
i saw two solutions above but which one is most efficient?

I'm asking myself the same thing.. I didn't grab the reloaded release cause it had problems, but I though there would be some repack or proper coming. Guess release groups forgot about the game.
So we have no choice but to get a steam rip or the reloaded version with about 10 differents fix?

Best would be to grab the latest versions of the Steam files from CS.RIN.RU, unpack them, and use the crack from CS.RIN.RU.

Left 4 Dead 2 Game Add-on #1 Announced
"The Passing" Brings L4D1 Survivors Down South
http://store.steampowered.com/news/3237/
Quote: | December 14, 2009 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the first game add-on for its co-operative zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2), is in development and targeted for release in early 2010.
Dubbed "The Passing," the first game add-on for L4D2 brings the original Left 4 Dead (L4D1) Survivors down south for a meeting with the L4D2 cast, while delivering new single-player, multiplayer and co-operative gameplay for the PC and Xbox 360.
Targeted for release in early spring, "The Passing" takes place just after the Dead Center campaign of L4D2. Set in a small town in rural Georgia, players assume the role of the L4D2 Survivors as they meet with the L4D1 characters.
In addition to the new co-operative campaign and associated narrative, "The Passing" will include new arenas for Survival, Versus and Scavenge mode and introduce a new co-operative challenge mode of play. The Passing will also include a new "uncommon common" zombie class, melee weapon, and firearm.
"The Passing will become the most important campaign in the Left 4 Dead story, as all the Survivors are being called together in one campaign," said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. "It will also be a huge offering of new gameplay content, with something new for every game mode plus a new uncommon common and weaponry."
Exclusively available for the Xbox 360 and PC, L4D2 sets a new benchmark for co-operative action games. The title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaws, frying pans, axes, baseball bats, and more.
With the AI Director 2.0, L4D's dynamic gameplay is taken to the next level by giving the Director the ability to procedurally change weather effects, world objects, and pathways in addition to tailoring the enemy population, effects, and sounds to match the players' performance. The result is a unique game session custom fitted to provide a satisfying and uniquely challenging experience each time the game is played.
Finally, with new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original, featuring more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, new Survival maps, and the new competitive game mode, Scavenge.
Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing is targeted for release in early spring for the PC and Xbox 360. Pricing will be announced closer to launch. |

lol that shit better be free. Otherwise, Valve is just milking that cow. Unless this add on allows L4D players and L4D2 players to share a campaign.

I doubt they will make us pay for it on PC. Valve cares about their community, they wouldn't pull a IW on us.

Maybe you should take a look at every Valve game released (except for L4D1 I suppose) before you make yourself look like an idiot. TF2 is pretty much one of the most supported games ever.

Valve has never made people pay to get more content for game they already own, so my point still stands.

If it was free for pc, then it would have been mentioned. I'm still not sure it will be free for PC so don't hold your breath dezztroy.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

This seems like a pretty big addon, why would it be free?

Wow, it's mind blowing how a person can delude himself so much. They also promised that L4D1 PC version will include God of War 3 as well as cure cancer, right?

You can troll all you want, just go back and read the first few press releases.
Oh and BTW,
Glottis wrote: | Same here. L4D2 looks nothing more than a bunch of new campaigns that should be free for L4D (or at least for a small fee). Bringing second game so fast is a huge spit in everyone's face who bought the first one. And I thought Sims franchise milking was bad, well, this is worse.
I'm very disappointed in Valve and feel somewhat cheated with my full price L4D purchase. |
Edit: And some more:
Glottis wrote: | Apparently the new special infected called Charger seen in gameplay vids was a community suggested special infected for a free L4D DLC. I guess that DLC is now called L4D2 and isn't free any more. |
And indeed even more
Glottis wrote: | And their solution was to call it L4D2 and price it at $50? I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be such a big community outrage if they released this as a $20 expansion pack 1.5-2 years after L4D. But I guess the days of expansion packs are over, it's either DLC with some extra minor stuff, or if you have expansion worth of new material then you call it a sequel. |
