heard the "check my brain" track on teh raido the other day and thought there was a song I've never heard from them before, I knew Alice in Chains was coming back but didn't expect them to sound like the originals.
Wasn't too shabby. I give em props. Their doing a better job sounding like the old shit than Metallica is doing (god they fucking blow now days)

tbh, i wasnt really impressed with the album.
It's good, but nothing like the old stuff..
Shame the legend himself is kaput, new guy seems to try too hard.

I completely agree with you on that note. I have listened to this album about six times now and have to say that it seems like a continuation on the musical road that they were headed down before the breakup and Layne's death. It is almost like their last studio effort but it does seem like the new guy is not that great of a singer. Luckily, he and Jerry Cantrell harmonize nicely, much like him and Layne used to. That seems like the only benefit to this new guy (I'm too lazy to look up his name at current).

I'm gonna check it out and see if they're still awesome. |
Saw them at the Opera House in Sep....great show (got smashed).
And the album rocks. They aren't trampling on Layne's grave at all. Still AIC but different enough to not disrespect Layne
I like it A LOT.
My sister in law and I are already planning on going to see them when they come back to Toronto.
My girl isn't a big grunge fan and my brother is a fag (likes dance music and pop music ie Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift etc).
My sister in law is like me, closer to my age and when I met her, she was a pure grunge rocker.

Syco! Where u been, dude?
The album rocks, i also bought for my brothers' "name-day" (yeah yeah, i know - bullshit tradition ).
I actually like Duvall's voice in songs, especially in "Last Of My Kind" (the chorus, when he sings more aggresively). Although he ain't no Layne for sure. I couldnt recognize his voice in the radio, not knowing the band.
There are some vocalists whose voices are easily recognizible like Layne, Kurt Cobain, Eddie Vedder, Axl Rose, Lemmy, Josh Homme (QOTSA) and some others too. That's how you know if a singer is good.
Too bad i can't go to the AIC show we have here in a couple of days. That's FUCKED UP! Hope someone tapes it at least...

Injured man. Doing lots of Physiotherapy.
Yeah, first CD I've bought in years. Listening to it now. And yeah, Last of My Kind is a really kick ass song and yeah, the chorus is off the hook.
He's no Layne BUT he's good when he does his stuff.
Cantrell found another singer who totally compliments him 100%....the odds.
AIC is back in the mainstream for Christ sake...how weird is that eh? I remember listening to them when I was a teen....and now I'm 32 and they've come back fucking strong...tho....I wish Layne didn't OD.....Layne, Eddie, Scott Wailan (STP) and Chris Cornell are my favourite vocalists.
Still...the new CD totally sounds like AIC. Same sound, same kinda depressive, grunge lyrics (cuz Cantrell wrote 95% of all the songs from day one).
My buddy who is the only friend I have who is a huge AIC is coming back from Vancouver for the Holidays. Gunna buy him the entire AIC catologue (he's having a rough time out west).
Btw, whats 'name day'? Birthday?
Its funny man, your from basically the other side of Europe and I'm in Canada and we both appreciate the same music for the same reasons....
Man....makes u wonder why people dislike people from other places in the world....metal/rock brings ppl together lol
EDIT
My bad for going on....I'm on these killer painkillers for just this week along with my reg painkillers (which most ppl find too strong lol).
Fucking looped....gunna put AIC on loop and play some MW2 lol
Too fucked for AC2

Yep, AIC sure did it again. Finally something FRESH and GOOD on the radio instead of the usual crap (in Poland its even worse, as there ain't too many rock/metal radios).
Name's day is a one day of the year where people celebrate their names. I guess that's the definition Each day of the year has one, two or three names "attached". Your name's day should be on the first day after your birthday where your name appears in the calendar (our calendars have name's written under every day), but that ain't always the case. My birthday is on 10/10, and my name's day on 09/05 (5th of september).
Of course name's day is used for heavy drinking (even more than on birthdays) and it's an old tradition
Know what u mean. I only knew one chick who liked AIC, i found her when looking for a singer (for a band i played guitar in and sang a little, just like Jerry haha ). Of course i just HAD to fuck her and after a couple of months the band was again without lead singer. Always thinking with my dick
This album had to be good, Jerry is an excellent songwriter, guitarist and vocalist. Although it feels pretty empty without Layne I read about his downfall in his last years and man...that was fucking sad I was trying to get a hold of Layne's biography (by some Argentinian chick if my memory serves me well), but no luck The book is unavailable here, and i can't find no e-book.
