steam drops a new file with steam extension in the mw2 root dir, but thats all.
the game stays on 59 |
So it's not working? Because those guys with legit keys they have version 1.0.166 in the lobby/menu.

I don't even have MW2 in the Steam games list,do I have to add it as a non-Steam game or something?
I did copy it in the "steamapps/common/call of duty modern warfare 2" folder though...

Ok, so I've been playing around with this game (MP) for a couple of hours and here are my thoughts.
I'm glad this is free because I'd be punching myself in the face for buying it.
I'm enjoying the MP part but only because it's free, there are so many things wrong that it's not even funny.
So far most of my connection to hosts have been good (concidering it's Hans from Germany hosting while now and then downloading porn). The lag gets noticable when killcam is enabled, you see that the shot didn't even come near your yet you die. Or even worse is when sprint refuses to work because of lag(or other unknown issue) and just stops sprinting.
Game, modes....wtf were they thinking?
I can't join any game-type until I level up? What kind of bullshit is that, I want to play HC from start so let me.
Ohh well, got to rank 19 and started some HC games. Most of them were giant camp fests, but that's the players not the game (well, the maps favour campers but they don't have to camp).
The weapons so far are all excellent, they have the right "feel" to them so to say. Although the perks are getting on my nerves abit and should have been changned around, but meh...I guess that's just fine.
Honestly, I'm glad to be playing this but I'm even more glad that it's free....because I can't see myself paying for this (and I've bought CoD:4 and WaW eventhough there were cracked servers, at full price).

Lol I think they disabled my key. It says the game is preloaded and when I try to start it, it tells me I need to buy it. Obviously trying to activate the key again, tells me its a duplicate.
Are keys still working for you guys?

Sure but when a specific player on IWnet decides to do netpackages hack(quite common really) or decides to spam the chat or go around stealing care packages then I would really really want a Vote kick feature.

Lack of settings in public games makes me wonder why IW is dictating how we should play the game. I bought the damn game meaning I should be able to customize my public games. You might find it convenient and good for you but please stop worshiping it, it works for the consoles not on the PC. Also Modern Warfare did not have server side sounds so please stop the BS.

Collision and movement gets jerky and unreliable when we go above 60 in ping. This happens alot on IWnet either with the Host or the connected players, it's retarded and certainly kills the game completely.

Finally got the MP crack working. However, it takes a awhile to connect to a server - says 'trying' a bunch of times..testing..etc. I got into Free fall all, but have yet to connect to deathmatch. Going to bed..will try 2morow. Oh yeah!

Try the pirated version first. If you get a lag-free experience, then yes -- it's definitely worth buying. If, like others, you get issues in gameplay... then just wait a few weeks for IW to try and fix IWNet.
It's still possible to patch the cracked version and play online too;

It's simple guys
There are almost pirates left on the 1.0.159 version that' why it's to freaking hard to find a good server.So just wait for a new crack update for 1.0.166 version.
The steam fix install does NOT work !
