9.10 beta, driver version 8.66 RC6, primarily for the HD 5870 and HD 5850 albeit people have reported FPS improvements with NFS Shift and the black screen issue in Anno 1404 is supposedly fixed (Albeit MSI leaked a RC7 driver version where the problem supposedly still exists so I'm a bit unsure.)

In another TWIMTBP title, we submitted a list of issues that we discovered during the games’ development. These issues include inefficiencies in how the game engine worked with our hardware in addition to real bugs, etc.. We have sent this list to the developer for review.

Unfortunately you will be unable to get a fair assessment of our hardware’s performance on this software until the developer releases a patch to address and fix our reported issues.

Ati passing the ball, as usual. God forbid, should they have to do good drivers. Rolling Eyes

Obviously we can't know the truth, but I think it wouldn't be preposterous to imagine the developers actually fucking up Radeon support. The 9.9 were pretty bad for some people, judging by some forum posts, so it's not like ATi is off the hook, but somehow I'm more inclined to think it's not the case here.

Yeah, it's bullshit alright. E-"as many customers as possible"-A locking out customers? Yeah, right, sounds logical. Now some other bullshit stirs up among fanboys -> it's PhysX' fault. Laughing Oh, but that's right, the Xbox 360 also has some ancient ATI hardware, yet everything works fine there. Hmmm... Scratch Head

To explain beyond the initial rage, I mean, having artificially locked physics effects for one vendor is one thing, but this? I just don't see EA doing a "if(vendor==ATI) fps(rand(10,15));". I just don't believe it. Also, like I said, Xbox has ATI hardware, and there have been no problems there (in fact there are problems actually with PS3s not displaying damage Laughing). It's just ATI with silly pride and incompetence.

Well, I don't get it. The developer had ATI hardware and drivers, didn't they see it doesn't work well? I mean, you are about to release a game, you test it on ATI hardware and it sucks...so your natural response is "it's ATI driver's fault"? At the same time games with better graphics work flawlessly. And how old hardware is a good indication for modern hardware compatibility?

ATI is guilty over releasing crappy drivers, but it's not entirely their fault all the time. This crap was released in a bad state and it's left for ATI to fix it. Probably. Very Happy

Release notes for 9.11, should be out either later today or sometime tomorrow from what I've read.

EDIT: Seems to be what I would call a maintenance release to keep up the one driver a month support ATI uses, has a few new features though and as usual new profiles and support for more recent titles but nothing worth mentioning in the release notes apparently.

Actually a new 195.x something driver was leaked a short while ago, I don't monitor them that much since I currently use a ATI card though I do check progress now and then.
(Early 190 and 191 drivers had multiple issues but 195 seems quite solid so far from what I've read about it.)

Files for 9.11 are up on ATI's server now though they're spreading slowly, might be best to wait a few hours and grab them from the official website. Smile

EDIT: Hmm I might have misunderstood.
