so i sold yet another MMO account which i know isnt covered by paypal for 200$ (this is the 4th ive sold in around 5 years)

the guy must have paid by credit card and decided to ring his CC company and requested they do a chargeback
!
MOTHER FUCKER!

obviously the chargeback isnt against me its against PAYPAL! those mother fuckers have the audacity to make me responsible!

now im in a negative balance 200$ + a fucking FEE!

i would not have a problem with this at all if the guy would have filed a paypal dispute which he would have undoubtedly won because paypal dont protect against virtual goods.

but he didnt he did a fucking chargeback AGAINST PAYPAL! it should be his account - the 200 mother fucking dollars!
HOW IS THIS JUSTICE!

guess ill have to pay the money back before paypal get a debt collection agency (who legally have no power) to hassle me every fucking day with phone calls.

MOTHER FUCKING BITCHS! no wonder they are always on consumer affairs programs for beeing DICKHEADS!

the first thing i do as soon as im out of this negative balance is close that shit down.

i would have been fine just ignoring the balance if i opened the account with fake info!, time to move over to google checkout and western union i guess.

im almost tempted to pay the 200$ by credit card and then do a chargeback of my own after i close the account as a FUCK YOU PAYPAL move Laughing

Paypal is great to buy small things via the web, because they get the money instantly. Would take weeks if I tried to pay some place in another country with a bank account in Norway

Anyway they seems like some cynical bastards tho, they want % for almost everything else than shopping cheap stuff online.

Um ,the only question i have is why did he get his CC company to issue a charge back? And im not asking why he did this instead of a Paypal dispute. But what was the reason, were you trying to scam him or something??

Dont get your rant at all.

I assume it would be fairly easy to get around the "virtual goods" rule, by actually writing the account details down and posting it to his address using some sort of special postage service?

If the scammer knew you where going to do it that way instead, I doubt he would have been "baught" the account in the first place?

because he probably thought paypal would take the hit rather than me? so he would get an account for free and i would still get the money.

obviously doesnt work that way so i reclaimed the account already by claiming i must have used a computer in an internet cafe that was keylogged .

ive never tried to scam anyone as i said ive sold my old mmo accounts before and the buyers have always been happy.

anyway if i was attempting a scam he could have just done a dispute as he would have won

if you guys are so stupid to start buying and selling f*cking accounts for some f*cking online game, you all deserve to get scammed now and then.

People download music/movies/apps/games for free but are willing to pay 200$ for some lame online account? That is completely beyond my understanding...

Secondly i do not belief a single word of your story. How the fuck can you be responsible to pay something if you were to receive money? Ok you could end up with 0 instead of 200, too bad, but you tried to sell an online account and it went bad, boohoo, shit happens i guess? It is a lost opportunity, not a loss.

Try to explain to me, in simple words so i can understand, what i am missing.

You sold an account through paypal? And you would get 200$ for it? So he issued a chargeback and het got his money back. So why is paypal asking you 200? As you were not supposed to pay anything, how can you build up a debt by receiving money?

You are an asshole, you know that? Is it really that hard to make money by contributing to the general economy instead of playing 0-sum games where you need to take money from another instead of creating a win-win situation. If you play donkey games, you win some, you lose some; get over it. If you want to play A-hole, accept that you are not always smarter than anybody else and on your counterparty can also fuck you over. Why am i ranting so hard? Because i do not belief you when you say you only try to reclaim your account because the deal went wrong. There is a good chance you would do the same when the deal went ok and you would have taken the 200 from the poor man's pocket.

Have some pride and just accept that you placed a bet and lost. I have lost at least 500-1000$ through AdSense accounts on google because my accounts were disactivated because of malusing. Shit happens. There is really no need to whine about it.

And now comes the statistic of the day. Did you know that professional short-term stock traders only have an average 52% hit-ratio, meaning that only 52% of their trades are profitable. So you sold 4 and 1 went wrong, pretty good an absolutely no need to whine about it Wink

Wow! You really need to calm down. You can't be unaware that some people place a higher value on their time than others and they can't be arsed to go and kill some badger a million times over to gain some points. They would rather pay for the experience of playing the game without the monotonous bullshit that comes before.

And for someone well-versed in the workings of the stock market you really don't have a clue about the concept of value. Or maybe you skipped the lecture where they taught that a price is just what a buyer is willing to pay for something and what a seller is willing to sell it for. And just like beauty it is in the eye of the beholder.

Exhibit A - Jackson Pollock no. 5

Selling price - $140 million approx

Now you may justify it that it is rare and all that blah blah but it doesn't satisfy your 'contributing to the general economy' criterium. And the only reason people pay so much for it is that they think that it is a good investment. But even that is based on nothing more than perception and the continued willingness of people to pay even more for it. A sustained form of Tulip mania if you will.

Modern 'art' is a self contained market where the auction houses bid on their own lots to massively inflate the price and their subsequent commission; or where collectors monopolise an artists paintings in order to give the impression of rarity. Of course this type of practice is illegal in most economic spectra, but the rules don't apply to art since it isn't considered a commodity.

This makes it a very poor example of the financial dynamics in society.

Modern "art" is also, to me, hideous. Almost universally. Knowing that someone would dare pay millions for such things makes me sad.

As far as MMO accounts go, well, the individuals paying hundreds for them aren't really in "society" in any healthy sense. They're looking for shortcuts to the "real game" at the upper end of the power scale so that they can play with their friends -- which is completely understandable (to a point). Account buyers are likely thinking they'll save money (or spend money up front) that would be going into monthly fees anyway. They definitely save time.

MMOs ... Jesus Christ. The entire industry is basically a giant Fuck You scam.

Disclaimer: I detest MMOs.

Not to mention price fixing between the major players which leads to a virtual monopoly but my point wasn't about the (in)efficiency of markets. It was about the concept of value and how perception plays a big role in determining price. Especially in the case of goods which don't have any intrinsinc value such as art or in this case virtual goods.
